This "outrage" highlights Britains issue with racism. It isn't a problem, until someone makes it a problem. The "Anti-racists" are becoming racists themselves, you won't be allowed black coffee soon.

I disagree. I think you're making something out of nothing.

The BNP are racist. Saying someone is black isn't.

But they did change their policy to let all ethic groups join, so they aren't actually racist anymore. They're facist IMO, but that's different.

I don't think that kind of sweeping generalisation helps anything, and I think you've actually proved Scott's point in a way.

Thats my point bud ;)

Getting a bit tangled up by ideas of racism. Having a picture of a black person with the word "Monkey" underneath them isn't racist is it? Of course not, but if someone with nothing better to do decides to see it that way then we have a big bandwagon that all the "anti-racist" folks can jump on.

Its a farce, the whole lot of it.

Chavist will be out soon. Its not about colour anymore, its all about the 'ists'.

I agree, but show me a facist party that isn't racist ;)

The BNP have had a 'I've changed my mind' moment, and I still think their 'every last one will go' approach to politics willl always be there.

How have I proved Scotts point?

You seemed to have misunderstood what I was saying. I don't think there is any issue at all with that poster. The issue is being made by people looking for things to point out as "racist".

My comment on coffee showed this. Black coffee is obviously not racist but it's getting so petty now that I was suggesting it's on the list of things to look at.

Oh, I see.. I thought you were being serious :)

I don't know if anyone has seen it but there is a cracking Spike Lee film called Do The Right Thing (from way back in the late 80's) that deals with all manner of racial issues. Spike Lee is the main character and his name in the film is (ironically) Mookie - as in Monkey, as per this thread.

Check it out :)

Absolutely agree. I think many people "want" to be offended by things, in a subconscious way. It's as if being offended gives them a purpose, something to fight against. It sounds wacky, and people won't admit to it, but I reckon it's true.

Slightly different when you are forced to change your policy on legal grounds.....

they are still racist.

I am sure Tinchy would have seen this before it was publication, although it could have been mostly likely his PR team.

Think you guys need to think way back to like the 80's when people called Black people "monkey" as an insult etc. If this poster was put up then, I would call it racist. In todays age it shouldn't be, but I can see why someone would have got upset if any did not understand why it said money there (like I for one did not even know they have tariff's named after animals!).

Would be good to get some feedback from forum members who are black?

I'm aware of what happened, but they did change policy because the previous one was racist.

So in literal terms, the party aren't racist anymore because the policy which made them racist in the eyes of the law has changed.
