miko_supra
I have this ecu that was installed by the previous owner. I know nothing about it really and what it has been mapped to. He said he used it with the boost controller set to 1 bar (with both cats and stock exhaust) but I'm looking to go full BPU soon. Shall I just remove it? If so do I just plug the loom straight back into the original ECU and its good to go? I should also add that my plan is to use a piggy back ecu to get the most out of BPU and after a quick search on here it doesn't look like there's allot of support for this unit in the UK. Any suggestions for a replacement unit? Mike

Andy-No-Knee
TDI and Abbey are HKS FCon mappers. It is a good unit, far better than any piggy back, but if it has been 'locked' by the prvious mapper then mapping may take some time, and both TDI and Abbey are well know for their cheap and competative rates.......not. To supply and fit the model above yours in a Soarer VVTI Abbey charged £2k. £900 of which was the new unit. Then the fitting was unplug the old HKS Pro V Jap Spec one, plug in new spec one... then map. Lube was needed that day!!!

Andy-No-Knee
Yep.... but you didnt take the car to Abbey while you lived in Japan did you??? He did and got rinced for it! He had one on the car in Japan, when he brought the car over here it needed remapping to UK fuel but TDI and Abbey said it couldnt be done as it was a Jap spec and HKS didnt relice the software to Europe so he had a new one fitted, same model/spec and then had to pay for it. Sent the old unit back to Japan and it is still going strong running one of his other cars out there....
