Which Oil Filter....?

When doing an oil change do I replace the filter?

Yep. :) On any car, the filter should be changed whenever the oil is changed. It's also a good idea to change the sump washer: might not be necessary, but for the price of it it's not worth sweating over. A new one should give you a good seal on the sump bolt.

Always used a stock toyota oil filter on my j-spec TTs. Never had any oil problems etc at all running these filters.

I just went into my local Wolverhampton Toyota dealer (a place where there are no supras and few nice cars :) ) and gave them the chasis number and they sorted out the rest, no issues.

I wouldnt use anything but OEM filters on my cars tbh,

The story is that Toyota originally supplied filters which were made in Japan - 90915-20003 for the JZs (and 90915-20004 for the V8).

Then they started supplying filters which are made elsewhere (Thailand or the USA, I think) with different part numbers (90915-YZZD1 for the JZs).

Supposedly, the original Japanese-made filters were better.

The JZ filters (90915-20003) are no longer available (except in Japan perhaps?), but Lexus can still supply (at least they did a few months ago) the slightly larger V8 filter (90915-20004).

I'm sure I heard that the TRD filters are the same as the original 90915-20003 Toyota filters. Anyone know if that's true?

Cheers =) Ill get my hands on an OEM filter and replacement washer :)

Regards

Edit - just ordered two of each, washers £1.03 and fileters were £10.90, with club discount was about £18 :)
