GSD needs a home

It isn't often I do this, but a friend of mine has been fostering a German Shepard dog. She is very young however we have using our GSD as pack leader on walks and she has been responding VERY well.

She isn't skittish, gets on well with kids (I've surround her with kids being lairy to watch her reaction), but she is fine, she doesn't react badly to loud noises either.

She hasn't had the best start in life in that she has been locked up outside for the first few months before she was picked up for foster care, and she has got slight damage to one of her ears so it doesn't prick up.

She is a definite pack animal and needs a pack leader dog to take charge that she can learn from.

They estimate she is 16months however I suspect she is younger, she is also a powerhouse and is very strong so she will need good discipline, that said she has responded VERY quickly in the past 3 days being out with our pack in the fields.

Don't be under any illusion, these are strong willed dogs and need lots of love and attention, however they make ultra loyal companions.

She is currently with the RSPCA in Basingstoke, I believe the usual fee is £120, but this does included neutering and first two rounds of inoculations.

I adore GSDs, I'd be lost without my GSD bitch. She needs company but aside from the fact bitches don't get on brilliantly I'd be reluctant to get another GSD. Ours costs over £60 in insurance every month as she has skin issues and insufficient pancreas. The medication would cost us must more than that so glad for the cover.

My advice to whoever takes her is get her insured, GSDs don't have a brilliant health record and you don't want to be faced with difficult decisions. Brilliants dogs aside from that, mine (along with a doberman cross we have) are like children to us!
