Thorin
You don't qualify. Performance mean Japanese only, noob. Italian cars aren't performance enough. I've just sold them and bought 2 Toyota Aygo turbo diesels. Does that count?

Chiefgroover
For some time now its the GTR Z and Supra, have a portfolio insurance policy with Prestiege that covers house, contents, and all cars for a reasonable fee, less than insuring the supra outright. Fuel bill is deadly though.

Scott
I was told that heavily modified cars wouldn't be insured. Are you not worried that you'll be at a loss if you car was totaled? Its not really heavily modified though, if I go single I won't be insured through them (doubt they would touch me). I have it insured for 10k. I reckon I could argue my case in the event of a total loss. I'm not naive enough to think that I wouldn't take a hit money wise but I don't drive silly at all. If someone totals my car then their insurance company pays to get it to the standard its at, if I bump it then I take the couple of K hit for driving like a twat. Facelift RZ Manual Black - Not exactly the most common so price hunting would reflect that.
danhicks22
I run the Supra and a Leon Cupra TDi (group 13 I think), they each cost me £900 last time I took out policies, both as a 24 year old - Supra with 3 years ncb, Leon with 2. Ian R
I run 2 supra's Na aero and single 6. But the Mrs drives the NA to work and I drive her 1.2 Bravo SX as I have an 84 mile daily commute. Supra was costing around £21 a day Fiat costs me £50 per week
j_jza80
I have a single turbo Supra, a VW Corrado VR6 and a Lexus GS300, all insured on a traders policy for around £1100 a year. All the cars are group 18 insurance or above. The Supras valued at £18k, the Corrado at £4k and the Lexus at £1k (although i'm sure i'd only get the book price on each if they were written off, i'd be changinging if I wasn't looking to sell them all)
Dash Rendar
I run a single Supra, and an Scoobie WRX. The Supra is currently costing me around £800 a year, and the Scoobie is about £700. Frankly, running them both is horrendous and I keep thinking I should jack one in for a sensible car. But the Mrs loves the Scoobie so I wouldn't make her part with. And parting with the Supra would be pure madness!
jaymdee
Im interested to know if theres anyone on here who runs 2 performance cars on this board - 1 as their daily driver and 1 as their 'toy'. When I say performance, I mean something japanese, turbo'd and probably the same insurance group as the Supra. I'd like to know the average cost involved in regards to total insurance, fuel and road tax etc please so I can do a few sums Cheers... No mate - I run three Supra TT, MR2 Turbo and Lancia Delta Integrale. Tax - 200/year each Insurance = 500+420+120 (respectively) service/MOT etc = £1k/year (total) repairs etc - Integrale average £1K per year () fuel - MR2 upto 30mpg, Integrale drinks it (16mpg:taped:) In all they cost a fortune, there's always a long list of stuff to do and for the last 2 years I've been doing an MSC, so no real time to get much done on (or with) them!! To be honest, you can only drive one at a time so tyres and fuel etc is not really a problem, unless you're comparing with a frugal daily driver. And the MR2 and Supra have been exceedingly reliable (hopefully not kiss of death), and I guess I've been lucky with the Grale
ozz
Are the people with traders policys actually trading in cars? I did look into this as we get through a fair amount of cars but was told if you have to claim then they will request invoices, receipts and details of all stock you have held to prove you are a trader. AJI
My summer car is the Supra...my all year round car is an EVO 6 RS2. Both cars are on limited milage per year which helps the premiums.
ozz
For people struggling to insure second cars, I used to insure a 1992 RS2000 on a classic policy with a company I think was called Firebond. Really good insurers though you had to keep the mileage down (6000 IIRC). I guess some of the earlier Supras would count as this now - it was prob 4-5 years ago that I had the RS. Best thing on the policy was no need for NCB, it had its own policy and was still really cheap.
