gavin.starr
Basically a couple of months back i blew my J spec turbo, so bought some second hand hybrid ones that had covered around 200 miles. fitted them and received no boost from my second turbo, did a bit of fault finding and found it to be one of the vsv's that was caput. I ran the car in ttc mode for about a month and a half until I got fed up of the exhaust noise at 3000-4000 rpm. I have just recently fitted a second hand vsv which is working. but my problem is intermittent with the second turbo still. If I plant my foot from the word go I get boost from turbo 1 + 2 through all gears. But when I drive sensibly through 1st 2nd and 3rd I get no boost at all from turbo 2 its just the engines power. So if I set of normally and then plant my foot just about when the 2nd turbo is about to kick in I get the lull of power as I used to get before the rush but then nothing comes on line. its really quite hard to explain, is there anything other than my vsv's I need to check, could it be the fcd stepping in or any thing else that could be at fault I really don’t know but all I can say is that its doing my head in. edge
Check you got the pipimg on the vsv's round the right way. I had a similar issue with mine. Could get boost from both turbos but if you came off throttle and went back on agian you would only get 1st turbo and no second until you came off throttle and back on again. Its was the piping on the vsv at the back of the engine above/next to the cam cover nearest the driver at the top.
gavin.starr
cheers for the advice but ive checked it a million times and im adament its right. has any one got any pictures of the hoses to all the vsv's so i can be a million % possative knowing that they are correct. but as you say above backing off the throttle and then back on again i get nothing from turbo
Stephendjb
Mine was doing this and it was caused by a tiny crack in one of the small pipes the one that goes from under the Y pipe down to the second turbo. They don't like being taken off & I replaced the lot with silicon ones.
