Range Rover Sport - Info Please.

I've driven the Range Rover Sport since they came out, had a Range Rover Sport a couple of months back for the weekend. They are brilliant cars, though I believe once you have crept over 60k then problems can start with suspension etc.

The recent one I drove, was a TDV8, did 800 miles on it without a hiccup & my friend had this car with 35k on the clock with no issues, still going out on rental with no issues.

The newer ones are much better but again this can be hit and miss sometimes.

If his main issue is reliability then he should buy a Toyota Landcruiser...

If his more concerned about style and the hip...hop....I'd go Range Rover Sport

Thanks for the feedback so far guys.

Try and twist his arm to get a landcruiser or if he is not intersted in going off road then an X5.

We had a Landcruiser earlier this year as a hire car whilst aboard. It's a nice car but doesn't really tick all the boxes. He doesn't want the BMW stigma either ;) :D

The wife's boss had two, the first one was changed under warranty after umpteen failures and leaks et cetera within 3 months. The second one was worse, and he got his money back and bought a ...... BMW :) I don't think he's a particular whinger, he genuinely found out what Range Rover build quality is like! These "high performance" 4x4's are the ultimate marketing over design statement, why anyone would want something that's not really any good off road, drinks fuel, and isn't as nice to drive as a high end estate car on road, basically a fairly fast, small, tarted up truck, I don't know? :) 95% of them never leave the city anyway!

I think they are stunning motors. Sure they're not practical but they really are a prestige motor with some serious road presence (IMO). Just about any prestige motor has a better, cheaper more capable and sensible option but thats not the point!

The guy next door to us bought a Range Rover Sport in 2008 and it broke within the first 8-months. A good pal of mine also bought one too and he had nothing but electronic problems with the thing.

I suppose 8-months of driving is better than nothing:rolleyes:
