RobAce
hi all, i am am doing a 6 speed manual converion on my j spec t-61 and woz wondering if i will need to re map my e-manage ultimate or if the map for the auto will be ok thanks rob
pistonbroke
I'd have thought it'd be fine. You're not changing anything about the engine or the way it runs.
bignum
But you are changing the ecu to a manual 1 right, i`d atleast get the map checked to be safe, ryans your man.
pistonbroke
Auto ECU's run on manual cars as far as I'm aware, just not the other way around.
SteveL
Best to get it checked as surely there will be different loads on the engine because of different gearing.
Ian C
Best to get it checked as surely there will be different loads on the engine because of different gearing. ECU maps don't work like that. They have revs and they have load, which is vacuum and boost pressure. An engine is mapped for all plausible vacuum and boost pressures at all plausible revs, so while you wouldn't map 1.4bar at 750rpm, you'd probably better allow for 1.4bar at 3000rpm in case of a steep hill in 6th gear while towing a caravan. So gearing is irrelevant. -Ian

Ian C
The logical part of me says it'll behave exactly the same. The mechanically paranoid part of me says make sure the fuelling is alright still
