Differential Help

Why T

Recommended Posts

He wants to put a small type facelift manual TT diff into a pre facelift TT6.

Ah, then as he says, it'll need a new back half to the prop and a driveshaft from the facelift 6spd (or auto).

It's really not recommended to do this if possible as the facelift ones are not as strong.

auto and facelift are the same size diffs, plenty people with big power cars (chingy/pig/Ryan) have been running them for a long time with no problems.

They are the same casing, but they do not have the same torque handling. The pre-facelift 6spd diff is a different animal to the others, everything in the diff, driveshafts, prop, and even hubs are beefed up on that spec. Many aspects of the facelift spd's were dumbed down. That's not to say they are incapable, just less strong tollerances.

I know they are not as big but a shed load of cars run them with no probs, plenty of facelift single cars on here also.
