nevins
best pff going now incase it gets worse through the night, by going now you will prevent any problems further on, plus your eye sight is not something to risk.

peter richards
been there done all that when i was fabricating , one thing not mentioned , is take someone with you , because if they numb the eye you will have a patch on it and wont be allowed to drive . and as said do it now as in the morning if its in then the eye tries to repair itself and makes it harder for them to get it out

Scott
Never a good idea waiting as your eye heals very very quickly. If the splinter has broken the surface of the eye and got itself properly stuck in the longer you leave it the more stuck it will become. Good luck. caseys
Nasty dude. A little while ago I was trimming bushes and a splinter of wood decided to lodge in my eye, stupidly I blinked and it went right back behind the visible part of my eye, so felt like I had a splinter in my head. Get down the ophthalmic department ASAP at your local hospital to get it looked at. Hope you haven't got any cornea damage from it. Normally eye stuff has a small staff of eye specialists 24/7, so if you went down last night whilst triage would be the usual wait the rest wouldn't have. The worst part is when they try and swab anything out of your eye and tell you not to blink as they're taking what is basically a cotton wool bud to your eye and touching it. Not easy! benkei
My uncle had a rose thorn go in his eye. He was gardening and moving the branches(?) and one slipped out and shot forward piercing his eye with a thorn! All the fluid was dribbling from his eye. Luckily when he got the A&E a quick thinking nurse got a contanct lens to put over his eye to keep it from loosing too much eye juice. His eye is ok now, but he says that at night, the street light go like starry? Not a nice experience to go through I think. But you should definately go ASAP regarding your eyes. Even if it doesn't hurt or cause you discomfort, you don't want it getting infected! That's just a headache in itself! Hope you get it sorted dude! Homer
Thanks for replies everyone, unfortunately I missed most of them yesterday as I went to bed! Anyway, went to sleep for a few hours with the intention of gettin up in the early hours and going to A&E. When I woke up the spinter had come out and was in an eyelash. Tiny thing it was too! So, got an emergency apoinment at the docs first thing, he took a good look and said there was a mark on the eyeyball where it had gone in, but said that there were no further signs if scratches apart from one thats been there for years. He said I was very lucky as it looked to be only a few mm from entering the cornea and should have gone to A&E right away The pain was being caused by the end of the spinter cutting the inside of my eyelid and it's still cut and inflamed now, but doesn't hurt anymore. He's given some drops for it and said I should go back in a week. So, thanks again for the replies - you were all right

Homer
Next time wear gogs. Bleedin' tiles are worse than swarf off a lathe when they splinter. Well I did have glases on Actually, it wasn't during cutting the tiles it happened, it was 2 hours or so later when I was cleaning up, not sure what happened, but went to wipe a surface and suddendly felt a sharp pain in the eye.
