Splinter in the eyeball!

Recommended Posts

Not sure how this happened, but after cutting some kitchen tiles this afternoon, an hour later managed to a tiny ceramic splinter in my eyeball. It itches rather a lot (like having an eyelash in the eye), but the bugger is firmly stuck in the 'coloured' area of my eye. It's tiny, just a little dot of white when looking closely in the mirror, but can see an indentation on the surface where it's gone in.

Is this one of those things that needs a doctor, A&E or priest?

I would go to doctor quiet asap if i was you , the material of a tile is not pushed away by the eye/humanbody

hardest things is when doc says " don't move your eye" and you see the dremel thing coming :).....( if he needs to drill or grind

A&E mate, hope you've already gone - should be relatively easy but you'll probably come away with a yellow cheek and a bollocking about protecting your eyes!

I had a nasty piece of metal swarf in my eye about a week ago that I managed to pick/scrape off the iris area but a week before this my dad had the same and he couldn't get it off. He tried to go to sleep with the intention of going to the doctor the next day but by the early hours the mild annoyance had turned to a burning pain so he had to go to A&E. It wasn't a big deal and I guess the place may have been a little quieter by the time he got there :D
