erm....

Go for a tomato sauce....

Two tins of chopped tomatos... boil with some herbs and spices till it thickens up....

perhaps add some mince..

However if she has had pasta already, why not go for a nice light salad, something like spinach, sundried tomato's and mozeralla as a starter...

Followed by something light for the main meal...

lol thanks all,

last night went errr odd from start. got home from work, before her, started laying table and then she turns up early, drags me to BnQ and buys loads of paint .. apparently we're decorating now lol. I remeber a small conversation along the lines of do you think a greeny blue would look good, but I cant remeber it developing into 'it's time to paint the bathroom .. and hall ... and bedroom ... and living room'

Get home have paint brush shoved in hand so ended up ording Dominos !

*sigh* I was looking forward to being let loose in the kitchen.

sheena, isn't Curry a bit too much after the pub kinda thing ?

Rosie .. Chicken in white wine, forgot that one ! Was a favorite of my home ec teacher back in the day.

Here's a good one for future reference, dead easy & cheap too - and v. nice!

Get a couple of chicken breasts per person, and cut a pocket into each (anyway you like but I cut from the thick end. Use a nice sharp knife and be careful not to cut back out of the chicken - you're going to fill the pocket up in a bit and don't want it to leak. :)

Next get a load of mushrooms and either chop them up quite a bit or stick them in a food precessor for about a second. Fry them in a pan with some butter, when they're done add a load of white white and keep cooking till that lots reduced a bit (5 mins should do).

Next (the 'tricky' bit), spoon-fill each of the chicken breast pockets with the mushroom & wine, erm, 'mush', and wrap a peice of parma ham - or bacon to save money - round the outside, holding the lot together with a cocktail stick :)

Pan - fry that until the chicken is pretty much cooked and startng to brown, then whack it all in the oven for ~20 mins at gas 5.

In the meantime cook some rice to go with it, and add double cream (and dried tarragon if you've got any laying about) to the remaining mushroom & wine mush, heat up for a couple of mins.

Stick the chicken jobbies on a plate (take the cocktail sticks out!) with the rice, poor sauce stuff over chicken, done. Brownie points galour, small amount of effort, difficult to get wrong, tastes top. :)

That also sounds like something Jamie Oliver would cook... Cous cous, man I hate that stuff, you have to cover it in other stuff to make it edible :p

I'm sure your meals are delicious though.

i'm sooooo dissappointed :( where have all the real men gone? what ever happened to cheese on toast? :(

oi! :stickpoke

Real men can cook a few basic dishes too I reckon, but your'e right, you can't beat a good few slices of cheese on toast sometime.

Anyway, it's still quite 'real man' to cook something that you can pass off as difficult & complex when really its was a piece of p ;)
