jaymdee
Have had the same thing on/off for a while now and want to get it sorted. When car is cold (oil warmed up etc) I get decent boost (1.2 bar) but after 10 mins when the car is fully warmed up, the boost drops off to 0.9bar. Have searched but not found anything which seems to be the same. Options seem to be: 1. split vacuum hose 2. leaking intercooler hose 3. dodgy IACV or EGCV anything else to look at? cheers
edge
Could be a small boost/vac pipe kinking or collapsing when warm. You decent rubber ones or silicone? Could be a coil in solenoid like boost controller - you got aftermarket controller? if so what make? or coil in the iacv/egcvs etc. Edited October 23, 2009 by edge (see edit history)
jaymdee
Hi James, did have some silicone, but have replaced with original toyota rubber ones, still the same. Might be main throttle body intercooler hose, as noticed it's become a bit damaged. Will have a play tomorrow and test using TTC to check it's not the pressure tank leaking
Guest spanky333
Any update on this? as mine is doing the same thing. Ran in TTC last night and I have the exact same problem boosts fine when engine warm. but as soon as its fully upto temprature boost drops from 1.1 to 0.6-0.
nigelboyne
could be heat soaked intercooler might need new one
Guest spanky333
The intercooler is looking abit sorry for itself. Some fins have corroded and fallen off. Could this be the cause of my problems?
4packet
Can you feel the engine switch from single to twin turbo? I had an issue with the IACV. Tested OK cold, but once warm it was intermittent. It steadily got worse and worse. The actuator is in a pretty warm place.
Alex
Could be a leaking BOV. Warm metal slightly expands and makes a leak.
Guest spanky333
In normal sequential mode. Its fine to start off with, the first turbo boosts to 0.7 and second turbo comes on boosting to 1.1. When fully upto temprature the boost never really increases once both turbo's are online. It makes 0.6-0.7 on the first turbo and when the second one comes online. No smoke or anything comes out the back of the car. I have removed the OEM BOV as I have a Blitz hardpipe one fitted. I have only just BPU'd my car and noticed this problem. Car ran fine before BPU'd boosting to a healthy 0.7. Thanks for the replies
jaymdee
Only just caught up with this. I think mine was caused by a split in one of the intercooler hoses, which was opening up when it got hot. Have replaced it, but with this weather not had a chance to test it yet (that and working away all week ain't helping!!)
