SAFC Install????? Help!

Ive searched for ages but cant find any answers to my problem.

I recently installed an Apexi S-AFC on my 93 J-spec N/A supra and while its turning on ok, its not reading or measuring anything Throttle, air flow, pressure etc. Also when i turn the engine over its lumpy and seems to misfire.

I wired it up using this guide for the TT,

http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/afc/index.html

It seems to be wired up correctly (As stated in the diagram) and ive double checked the connections with a multi-meter.

The SAFC is second hand and i have reset it.

Does anyone know where im going wrong? Wrong wiring etc. Also it would be very helpfull is somebody could tell me which color wire on the safc goes to which pin no. on the ECU?

Thanks in advance!!;)

according to the SAFC manual the 2JZ-GE is wired the same as the GTE, the only thing i can see that Apexi stress in the manual is the black and brown ground wires, the brown must be connected closest to the ecu and the black must be a least a cm away connected to the same wire off pin 69, from memory mine was about 4 cm away, do you have anything else connected to the 12v feed off pin 31, if yes it may be an idea to disconect it

Thanks for the reply folks!

Got the SAFC cheap so thought it would do no harm on my N/A and help me fine tune the fueling as its running a bit rich after all the mods.

Tried supra forums and the likes but theres only instructions for the USDM N/A supras and the wiring might be different as i think they use MAF as opposed to MAP on JDM models. Also on the USDM sup's they use the orange and pink wires on the safc instead of the yellow and white (yellow nd white not used). Do i need to do this to mine or should i stick to the yellow and white?

Ive nothing else connected to the 12v feed off pin 31, and the black and brown wires are seperated about 5cm in the correct order.

The thing that really puzzles me is that even tho the safc is powering on it isnt reading anything, what would cause this?

Someone on here has bound to of fitted one of these on a JDM N/A, can you please tell me which Exact ECU wires to conect to please?

Thanks again for the feedback folks!;)

  • 2 weeks later...

Really need to get this sorted as the car isnt running properly at all since i have installed this, so im desperate for help!

This is the diagram that i am using for referance:

As far as im aware, this is for a USDM TT model and they use MAF opposed to JDM which use MAP.

Above is the ECU pinout for the 2JZGE, so what i really need to know is where does the wires from the SAFC go on my ECU?

i.e Red wire = Pin 31

Green wire = Pin ??

Grey wire = pin ?? etc.

Thanks in advance!!!!;)

Cheers mate, it was sold as excellent condition and perfect working order. Its coming on ok but as i said earlier its not reading anything and is making the engine run like crap! When i turn the engine over it splutters and wont rev properly!

I need to take the Sup to a Tuner/rolling road at the weekend and i cant even drive it to the end of the driveway!

Really need help folks, someone has bound to have fitted one of these to a N/A?

Thanks!
