MaveriK
Ok, so am getting a bubbling and gurgling coming from the radiator after the car has been on the end of a slight thrashing so obviously thought cap had gone so replaced with a brand spanky new one from Toyota (best part of £15 thank you very bleeding much) only to find that get the bubbling gurgling has not gone away. "Borrowed" my mates cap off his scooby (mush deeper fitting) and it fits a treat and no more noises. Have not had time to get details off the radiator but has anyone else heard of or got this set up? Its a N plated import TT auto and the radiator cap from Toyota was silver with a yellow label and quite slim. Or are the noises normal, only had the car since xmas. no reason for this smiley, i just like it!!

merckx
Is the rubber gasket in place still? Are you seeing any leaks from the cap or just hearing it? The radiator cap has a pressure rating and when it is exceeded it will allow water to come out through the rubber pipe and run onto the ground. It acts as a safety pressure valve and you wouldn't expect it to operate normally, your water temp and so pressure could be getting too high! Mine is rated at 108kpa, don't fit another cap on from another car that has a different rating!
JustGav
You will also find since the cap is deeper that it probably blocks up the overflow hole which could lead to a whole other problem if the system gets over pressurized....
