Sheefa
Hi all Great news. I have just been promoted to a Global Account Executive, a role I have been gunning for some time now. It comes with a 'healthy' increase, well as much in today's market, and of course a Company Car. So here is my dilemma. I have to choose which car I want from a selected range. This is as follows: FORD VOLVO JAGUAR LAND ROVER Now naturally I would like to go for the fastest - i.e. the Focus RS but the personal contribution is £600 per month! That's roughly £1,000 per month on a car - that's a joke. So sadly that is out of the question. The Ford ST3 is within budget and offers good performance, and I have been thinking about the Volvo S40 T5 (Petrol) which again is pretty quick and stylish. What are your thoughts guys? Oh and I can't get the XK or XR unless I sell my organs.......and face. Cheers Greg
RedM
Congratulations Sir. Aren't company cars supposed to be diesel though?
SupraAyf
Well done on the promotion Greg - you can buy a Supra now.
Sheefa
I am tempted to get a shitty little focus/fiesta and then take the cash option for a Supra - but that wouldn't make economic sense now would it!
Konrad
Take Volvo S60 T5 diesel, those are very comfy and suprisingly quick
Stonkin
well done mate, good news on the job
Havard
I am tempted to get a shitty little focus/fiesta and then take the cash option for a Supra - but that wouldn't make economic sense now would it! Focus Titanium ftw..!! Cheap as chips on tax and 60 mpg..!!
michael
Mountune ST3.
JamesC
I know nothing about company cars but is the idea not that you get so much money a month so you can get a car cheaper/free? How come your personal conribution would be £600 when you can get a private lease on an ST for
jon5698
Congratulations Sir. Aren't company cars supposed to be diesel though? No you pay an extra 2 or 4 % for the privilage of driving a diesel! i have an audi a4 avant as my company car, but we have finally managed to persuade our md to get us mitsubishi L200 raging bulls next. The beauty of this is that they are classed as commercial vehicles so only get taxed on 3.5k instead of 6 or 6.5k for the audi's. Also the lower the co2 rating the less you get taxed. Gaz6002
I take it you're in for new cars only? Is a Jag XF out of your price range? That is one fantastic car. Dare I say, the old Mongdeo is also good although not really an executive's car
stevie_b
Well done Greg, pleased for you! Just being nosey, what line of business are you in?
gordy07
Nice one mate! Range Rover sport?
Sheefa
Thanks all for ideas. I think the Volvo S40 or S60 is a good option, Diesel maybe. Gaz - the XF is going to be out mate at a guess. If the RS is another £600 on top then the XF would likely be more!! New cars and models only yes. James C - that was for the Focus RS PC of £600 mate not the ST3. I could afford that. They have basically 'priced out' the Focus RS. As for my work, I work for a global insurance company on the Commercial side.
jaymdee
Well done Greg I'd probably go for a well spec'd 6 speed Mondeo Titanium diesel 2.2. Good MPG, or else you end up paying the vompany for business miles and decent poke to make journeys less boring.
T2 MSW
Congrats Greg its been a while coming. Hows things now? Im with Paul get focus titatium, take the cash option and get yourself back in the supra scene
marbleapple
You can get an RS on PCP for less than the £600 per month
Sheefa
You can get an RS on PCP for less than the £600 per month That's the absolutely ridiculous thing about it. They've effectively 'priced it out' of the scheme. Pointless having it on there! I'm thinking run about work car and use the extra salary for a Supra. I'm thinking run about work car and use the extra salary for a Supra. Why not take the money and put it toward the PCP of the RS (if you want one). I saw one ont he motorway the other day... it looked superb. (flew past it in my corsa)
Sheefa
Decided on an ST3 and getting it over 3 years so I can also add this well choice package to it http://www.pumaspeed.co.uk/showdetails.php?id=
Abz
Congratulation's on the job promotion Greg. Nice back fires from this exhaust yet it is relevantly quiet. Check out the turbo name "A very reliable and safe solution that gives the best top end power and response from the standard KKK turbocharger."
