Class One
The difference is Branners (and you know this), there is certainly a big gap between writting legible sentences and writing in text speak. What Mitch preaches is pedantic, what you refer to is sense. Fail. See me after school.

martini
No, but my postie is old school. He refuses to a strike but also understands why some of his colleagues are. I think it'll be the old school ones that soldier on. I can imagine that going on strike wouldn't look too great the next time you're up for a performance review - but then what is the union for? I can't see why modernisation is a bad thing - I am using UPS right now to ship my HKS filter, because I know they will come and pick it up from my workplace for a reasonable fee. I don't have to someone magic up "time out of the office" during the 9-5 that the post office is open. Who actually goes to post offices during 9-5 apart from: the ill the old people on benefits

Mike
One of the greatest leaders that this country has ever had and breaking the unions her greatest achievement. Imo. That's the opinion I would expect to hear from someone living in the South. No interest in the communities she destroyed or the towns she closed down. Selfish and closed minded. As Thatcher was. I'll be throwing a big old street party the day that bitch dies if anyone's interested
martini
At least she brought about actual changes. So did Hitler though! Seriously, during bad times people vote for extreme changes (just look at the BNP now). I'll be throwing a big old street party the day that bitch dies if anyone's interested There's plenty of other Northerners that will do the same! It's because of the Unions, not Thatcher that our industries have all been ruined.

I was too young to understand it all and never read up on it fully. I just know for some reason Thatcher is massively hated across the country. imi
I never said firefighters get £30k, 3 months training? Police officer probationary period training is 2 years I believe. I'd also like to point out that nowhere have I said that being a firefighter (or police officer) is an easy job. I know it isn't, and I think they do an admirable and dangerous job. you didnt, HE got the wrong end of the stick...

I just know for some reason Thatcher is massively hated across the country. I was a little young too, and I mean no offence to any who were involved at the time. The way I see it, the unions/workers were demanding more money than there jobs commanded (which is proven as similar workers abroad were working for much less), and it became more cost effective for the UK to outsource many of its traditional industries. Steel (to an extent), Shipbuilding, coal mining and various others have gone due to this.

Excluding the specific details of what happened - the overall objective intention seemed to be to move on with the times and stay competitive for the future - something that I feel the postal service union are refusing to accept.
