Wasn't privatisation one of the things that people always have a go at the tories for? Rail networks anyone??
michael
Leave them to it, I find the way these fools are effectively destroying their own jobs laughable. This time next year I expect Royal Mail to be in bigger trouble as more and more people use the existing and newly created alternatives.
peter richards
friend of mine is a postie been there for years and talking to him last week , he said he was fed up being treated like sh1te , young managers who have never delivered a letter in the p1ssing down rain in the middle of winter timing his rounds regardless of weather conditions . edit to say dont tell someone to do that you havnt done yourself
Matt H
F"ck privatisation Imi, your local PO will get closed, so will mine. there won't be an amazing network out there, just a massive ball ache when you want to post something. It's up to them to strike if they want. Strikes go on all the time when employees arn't treated fairly. Just because this one effects everyone your against peoples right to do it. Personally I think the employees of royal mail do a great job. Maybe alone in that but I stand by that statement

Charlotte
I'm more concerned by the bin men up here. 7 weeks without collecting the bins in places in Leeds. Shocking, honestly.
peter richards
no hes doing a good solid job and has done for years , so why rock the boat as they say , or if its not broken dont fix it . sounds to me like wankers of managers trying to get themselves a pat on the back at the expense of the real guys
imi
Probably just a little respect in the form of conditions and fair pay? Whats fair pay? With others being made redundant and the countries economy at a halt - who is going to pay for this? I rather see the tax moneys be spent on essential services like healthcare, education, infrastructure, police, etc....... These people SHOULD be low down in the pecking order - pay rise is not a priority....sorry - no sympathy here at all.

Lazy, dirty, work-shy, smelly b*stards. They do a crap job anyway, the temp guys they have in on a sporadic basis are much better. Sack the lot of them and get the private guys in. Love the way they had their union meeting to vote on a strike extension in a Jongleurs comedy club.

michael
Yes. They do. I wouldn't want to do it. Are you following me? They get paid a pretty decent wage for what is effectively pushing something with wheels on a few feet and pressing a button before sitting down and driving around a bit. I wouldn't choose it as a career personally but I can think of worse jobs.

peter richards
where i live is very hilly so no fancy trollys , i felt the weight on this guys bag which wasnt full and it weighed a ton , and was a dry day , and as we only see our postie delivering our post , his shift consists of 7 bags and a huge area . and also i think a lot of the older or certainly people who have done that job for a number of years are suffering with major health problem , back , knees , arthritis . so might be worth thinking outside the box now and again when the letter hits the mat
Pete
Make it illegal to strike and burn the dissenters! Just what we need. Another law telling us what we can and can't do. Great idea! I've been utterly dismayed with the postal service since two deliveries were reduced to one (sometime in the day) and I can't ever collect any missed parcels as the office is only open when I'm at work except Sat mornings since they reduced the opening hours by half. I have a nice new Wii modchip sat waiting for me as I type.

If they arent capable / willing to do the job there are two options 1) either bring in people that are willing to do the job 2) shut down the service. The sooner people move away from sending letters the better and just post for sending other essential items (like supra parts) then again - I use a courier service for that too - guess their days are numbered. RedM
I'm on the posties side. F**k privatisation. If that happened our village post office counter would close, people would have to go elsewhere, that'd affect takings at the village shop, that'd close down, people would have no 'hub' locally and I'd also have to move as our flat is subsidised by the takings of the shop. So, all you inconsiderate f**ks who are being barely even a teensy f**king bit inconvenienced should just shut the f**k up.
