Ian W
Keep thinking about doing the DC2 in satin / matte black. Think it would look mean as hell
Multics
I've been quoted £1200 to wrap my R33 in matt balck at Totally Dynamic http://www.totally-dynamic.co.uk/ After some thought I decided against it, it will only last a year or two max without looking tacky. Vinyl manufacturer says 5 years but I doubt so. Stonechips, bird crap and tree sap will make the vinyl look bad in no time unless the car is garaged every day and taken out rarely... Gaz6002
There was a matt black RX7 with bright green wheels parked at my work for a while last time I was up here. That looked fairly OK.
Homer
Stonechips, bird crap and tree sap will make the vinyl look bad in no time unless the car is garaged every day and taken out rarely... After that's happened you can just tell people it's the 'Rat rod' look
GazzaGSi
Saw this on my last track day at combe and thought the matt black worked well http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs274.snc1/10119_127445723934_641903934_2394293_2842819_n.jpg http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs274.snc1/10119_127445708934_641903934_2394291_5957796_n.jpg

Theres loads of porker cayennes DB9s and tractors around Chelsea where I work I quite liked the chrome sl though
AndrewOW
Maybe the best compromise would be to have the colour of choice, then using a matt lacquer. It's not totally matt, more like a satin/silk finish. It looks great on a dashboard
martini
I am not a fan of this at all. I took the 911 picture just for my records.

AndrewOW
I really like the matt silver finish http://www.kroitor.com/google_crawler_test/imgs/018_lexus_lfa.jpg Probably a matt lacquer. Looks superb, but then it would, wouldn't it?!
Chris Wilson
All of our cars here are like that, it's nothing new, just don't wash or polish them for 8 years and the patina arrives FOC.
DSK
What about the heat? when you are driving especially long distances, giving the car some stick and in summer, engine temperatures, heat from underneath the car and the sills is quite hot.... Surely if a car is wrapped the original body panels will take longer to cool down and could get hotter as well affecting the original paint finish below? Some cars can pull it off, some can't. Also depends on the firm that does the wrapping with regards to overall finish quality.
Pot
I'm wondering if the admiration for matt black comes from quality entertainment like Robocop?...

Why would it matter if the vinyl was applied properly... i.e. with no air trapped between it and the paint?
