Elliot
Anyone seen this, or the new film for that matter? I've read the book 3 & a bit times & think it's hilarious! On paramount comedy the other night I think they had 6 hours of this series or whatever it is, but I had to go & see Downfall (great film) with a mate, so missed it (didn't want to watch it half-way through!) Definitely going to watch the flim once my dissertations out the way (think I can write 12,000 words in 5 days!? )

I think it's just one episode tonight (35 mins) Is the new film the whole series of 4, or just The Guide?

MrAngry
I Listened to the Radio series In 1978 when it was released then watched the TV series the first time around. After watching it tonight it still makes me laugh! Douglas Adams was certainly an amazing satirical writer, may he Rest In Peace!
Scoboblio
I saw the film a few days ago, thought it was good Then again I haven't read the original, so I didn't have any expectations of it.

Elliot
Or even the whole series of 5 -Ian Five!? The Guide The Restaurant at the End of the Universe Life, the Universe & Everything So Long, & Thanks for all the Fish What have I missed? I watched the one last night, although it was slightly old & a bit tacky, it was still OK, not even 5% as funny as the book though. Still looking forward to watching the new film

Pete
Saw the film on Sunday. It's pretty good. Only bad thing was the pacing. The radio show and books were quite leisurely leaving the film feeling somewhat rushed to get the whole story in. There isn't enough book bits and many jokes I felt were rushed or not explained. I put the radio show on Monday and enjoyed that much more. Interesting to note the differences.
Nick
I'm going to watch the new film but I expect to be disappointed. From what I've read they've replaced a lot of the humour with a love story

The FX are pretty cool. Especially Magrathia, the planet building bit.
Wolf
All the FX budget of a movie but how come all the shots of Zaphod are 2 arms and one head? I'm expecting big disappointment - I found the TV series pretty poor compared to the radio series and the books so the film will probably be even worse... I suppose they decided against it for budget constraints. His second head kind of pops up from under his normal one like a dual personality. garethr
I'm still trying to decide whether I want to see the film. I've had the pictures from the radio series in my head for more than 25 years, and I don't know if I want to confuse things
