Exactly, and the weimeraner tends to be just that, he was a stunning dog and perfect in every way just very stressy.

Even though we did everything right he just couldnt adapt, different breeds etc behave differently, same as different horse breeds i guess

:)

That is interesting - i love this bread of dogs, they are stunning.

My wife is at home with the kids most of the day anyway so probably wouldn't be a major issue - but it would be horrible if you had to go out for a long time and they started really playing up!

It wasnt a particularly long time, 3 hours max. I would highly recommend a cage (i know it sounds awful, but our old one ate half my bedroom door) and they get used to it for a while,

Will see if i can dig up any pictures. We got him from a breeder near farnham way. Her husband i believe is Peter Alice the famous golf commentator (dont ask me as i know nothing about golf) He was a stunning puppy then later a gorgeous dog, still regret rehoming him :(

Yeah get some more pics up if poss ;)

My dad used cage/crate for his 2 springer spaniels when they were pups, and now they are the best trained dogs i know!!

I hated the idea when i used to see them in it, but the end result was worthwhile i guess....

...my lab x rotty ripped my kitchen to pieces when she was a pup!! :sly:

Just to let you all know when i got home yesterday Rusty had eaten a bar of soap a duvet and got the contents of the bin out all over the floor...then he looks at me as if butter wouldn't melt and gives me the big old sad eyes trick.

Gorgeous but sometimes naughty[sHOCK][/sHOCK]

And i think bruno is trying to tell me to put the heating on:blink:

It's not just that, they actually prefer to be enclosed in a small space when left alone because they get very insecure if left in the wide open. They rip and bite and chew stuff because of anxiety not to annoy you for leaving them, if you do all the right things (not making a fuss when you go and ignoring their noise when you come home) then they will love going in the crate. Most of the dogs (Malamutes) I know are crated and it's their 'happy place' that they actually choose to go to when they want some peace! :D

One of my all time fav breads....

...can i ask, are they good with kids? i heard they can be quite aggressive?

And an rough idea on cost would be great, last time we looked around we couldn't find any breaders!! :search:

They are supposedly good with kids, but TBH we wouldn't leave kids with them, Wilbur is rather boisterous, Nelly is quiet as a mouse. They are bred to be protective though, they make excellent guard dogs and Wilbur is very scary for strangers.

Yeah about £1k for the bitch, bit less for dogs

Thanks mate, so around £900 average then for the pups... ;)

Just had a quick look at the Shar-Pei club site, what a mess, sorry. Google the breed. In the current climate I would expect to negotiate on price :) We are hoping to be having a litter of Bouviers from our bitch when she's next in season, which should be soon. They are fairly demanding exercise wise, and if you get a sharp one they can be a bit OTT about guarding, but we have male and female here that we are mating and both have good temperaments. What about a Labradoodle?

Thanx Jev

When you say you wouldn't leave them with kids .... do you mean as in you shouldn't really leave ANY dogs alone with kids or do these have a slightly less "tolerable" temprament (sp) ?

They do look amazing dogs, do they malt a lot? and how big exactly do these little things grow to?

Bit of both really, obviously I'd never leave any dog with a small child, but there is a point where I'd be happy leaving a younger person with Nelly & not with Wilbur, nothing to do with the breed more so the individual dogs tempremant.

They don't molt too bad, obviously just when a bit when shedding the winter & summer coats.

Wilbur is quite a big dog, imagine Rotweiller build, maybe not as tall bud extrmely well built, he's currently 6.5 stone.

Nelly is small in comparsion, both height & weight, she's 3 stone.
