Dave F Posted October 18, 2009 Share Posted October 18, 2009 You can only polish out very light scratches on non coated lenses but chances are if you can see them without looking up to a light they will be too deep. Most high street places didn't want to know, fobbing me off with "it's impossible, you'll have to buy new frames...from us." I had it done in the end though, from a small opticians. I supply about 30 opticians and they pretty much tripple or quadruple the prices I charge, although they do have quite large overheads. It certainly isn't impossible to reglaze most frames unless they are in a real state, but opticians I know will do it at own risk. That said £50 per lens is a bit steep. At my store we don't do that if people only want lenses then lenses is all they will get because there is no point in trying to push someone into buying something they don't want and ultimately don't need! I always recommend people going to the smaller independants such as yours rather than the big stores, much more of a personal service imho.
