Scratched glasses..

I had quite a struggle getting my glasses "re-lensed." Most high street places didn't want to know, fobbing me off with "it's impossible, you'll have to buy new frames...from us." I had it done in the end though, from a small opticians. It still cost £250 as they charged a £50 "reglazing" fee per lens.

Opticians, I hate 'em.

No nothing like that mate

Cool, makes things easier, in which case, I've heard some recommendations about toothpaste, never tried it myself, I'm that blind scratches don't make a difference :)

But the theory's sound, and as it'll clean easilly, it's worth a go :)

I supply about 30 opticians and they pretty much tripple or quadruple the prices I charge, although they do have quite large overheads.

It certainly isn't impossible to reglaze most frames unless they are in a real state, but opticians I know will do it at own risk. That said £50 per lens is a bit steep.

I work for an opticians as well and some places will try and fob you off or charge you a fee for just putting lenses in which I think is a joke!

At my store we don't do that if people only want lenses then lenses is all they will get because there is no point in trying to push someone into buying something they don't want and ultimately don't need!

Dave F do you have a website?

After a bog standard pair - onto contacts now as was fed up with scratches and stuff. But the odd pair for laziness and driving when I can't be bothered to faffle with contacts would be useful.

No website I'm afraid but pm me what you need and the prescription and I'll give you some options.

A guy I worked with a few years back worked in Bluewater at a Clulow store for a bit don't think he got on too well though :). I always recommend people going to the smaller independants such as yours rather than the big stores, much more of a personal service imho.

Our stores as a whole in my opinion do give a far better service than the likes of Specsavers etc!!

Who do you know that worked there??

A guy called Ashley, not seen him for a while but don't think he got on with the retail side of optics and wnt back to manufacturing.

Wow, with the money I have to spend everytime my missus wants new glasses (ultra, ultra thin), I think I should bookmark this thread and comment on what a lovely Supra Dave F owns! ;)

:D Don't have that supra anymore still waiting for the right one to come up unfortunately. If you need lenses in the future give me a shout mate

You should considering a trader application here :D
