supraturbochris
Afternoon all. I was out in the supe today, i relised the heater blowers wasnt really blowing out much hot air, changed the coolant yesterday, the coolant level is at maxium. The top hose is very hot and the bottom hose is cold, i think the thermostat could be knackered? Anyone had the same prob? Where is the thermostat housing located? jon5698
You could have an air block in the system, start the car up and take the radiator cap off and gently squeeze the radiator pipe. Do not do this whilst the engine is hot though. Edited October 18, 2009 by jon5698 (see edit history)
Gaz6002
Also make sure your passenger footwell isn't damp, if it is it's heater matrix time.

jon5698
How long did you try it for? as it seems a bit strange how you changed the coolant and it has only started to happen since then. My thoughts would still be on an air lock.
SUPRALOOPY
It will be an air lock.

pistonbroke
make sure your heaters are on the hottest setting while you run the coolant through.
BlackWatch66
Bet £100 its Definately an airlock! Best way is to jack the car up (or park on a REALLY steep hill) so the Rad is higher than the black rubber hoses above the rear of the spark plug cover, take the rad cap off and massage all coolant pipes while the engine is running, also make sure your heater is set to full whack. Do this for about 20 mins then take it for a run (put Rad cap on again) to get the water flowing, let it cool down and check it, repeat as neccessary. The problem is that the air gets trapped in the above mentioned black rubber hoses at the rear of the spark plug cover as they are the highest point in the coolant system (air is lighter than water: duh) hope this helps:D
