For some reason on of the radiators in my house is stone cold? its completely full and every other radiator is nice and toasty?? the valve is on full?

The only thing i can think if is a faulty valve?

Any help welcome as its the sons bedroom and its freezing in there :(

odd shut off all the other radiators apart from the bedroom one and the boiler doesnt fire up even when the thermastat is on full temperature?

You have no circulation then, but we knew that already. Have you tried to adjust the valves??

The spring in the TRV may have gone. There will be a pin sticking up on the valve itself, push this down and see if the pipes get hot aroud it?

Something iffy there, if i close all my radiator valves the heating still comes on with the thermostat.

It will come on if you haven't got a flow switch. The water around the boiler will get hot but not circulate and then the boiler should trip out on high temperature.....;)

Mr Kirkby's boiler sounds like it is flow controlled.

Ahh yeah mine is a bit different. It is a back boiler with seperate pump etc etc. It does what you said, comes on and heats the pipe but with the water being static it hits temp really quickly and just cuts off.

Thought they would all do this, never thought of a flow switch.

Woohooo got heating :)

Just taking the valve off again as i was going to push the piston down to do it manually and i noticed that the pipe was getting warm to the valve so as soon as i pushed in the piston the radiator got hot :) then as i was putting the valve back on i burnt my hand LOL

So many many thanks for all your help guys, much appreciated

my boiler is a bit of an odd one, its a powermax 155 which is a combi boiler with a water store as well, the thing is huge LOL
