Kev.O
Have you tried to bleed the air out of the radiator?
mkirby
yep, its totally full, no air at all in it?
JamieP
Dodgy valve or the system might need balancing, try turning off all the other rads and see if any heat gets into it.
Havard
It could be a TRV that is faulty. Take the top off, it should just screw on via a ring in the middle. I would be surprised if it was a blockage..!! H.

You have no circulation then, but we knew that already. Have you tried to adjust the valves?? The spring in the TRV may have gone. There will be a pin sticking up on the valve itself, push this down and see if the pipes get hot aroud it? H.

It will come on if you haven't got a flow switch. The water around the boiler will get hot but not circulate and then the boiler should trip out on high temperature..... Mr Kirkby's boiler sounds like it is flow controlled. H.

Ahh yeah mine is a bit different. It is a back boiler with seperate pump etc etc. It does what you said, comes on and heats the pipe but with the water being static it hits temp really quickly and just cuts off. Thought they would all do this, never thought of a flow switch.
mkirby
Woohooo got heating Just taking the valve off again as i was going to push the piston down to do it manually and i noticed that the pipe was getting warm to the valve so as soon as i pushed in the piston the radiator got hot then as i was putting the valve back on i burnt my hand LOL So many many thanks for all your help guys, much appreciated Mike
