I want 450 bhp on my supe. What extra objects do I need so I can start saving up?

HAVE:

Nur Spec with restrictor plate

Full De-Cat

TRL FCD

Speed Delimeter

Currently running just under 18 psi

NEED?:

Intercooler?

Hybrid Turbos?

What other essentials? (not good to have's)

Thanks guys.

Your going to max out your fuel system at 450bhp, if you only want 450/500 swap to a UK spec fuel system (injectors, uprated pump)

FMIC & Hybrids

Gaz.

Boost

I assume you mean 550 bhp not 550cc.

Cams would be needed too.

It all depends how long you want the turbos and engine to last and also for how long you want to run max power.

I knew running 1.4kg boost on my import would reduce the life of the turbos and my plan was to put hybrids on when the stocks blew. I made sure to fit a FMIC to keep charge temps down a bit and my next plan was to fit 550cc injectors to help with fuelling. I never held the car at max boost for too long so the EGTs probably never got up high enough to really do any damage, but if you are somebody who drives flat out for long periods then you need to make sure you have sufficient fuel and cooling to deal with the heat.

To get a reliable 450bhp you will need hybrids, a good FMIC and improved fuelling.

Just to jump in here and it may also help Julian a bit too maybe (Excuses, Excuses!).

To upgrade to UK 550cc injectors what is actually needed other than the injectors themselves...? Obviously the fuel pump.....anything else. Probably been done to the death this, sorry if it has!:stupid:

Keeping an eye on the board through the nights!:D

Can I point you at pages three and four of an older thread where myself and GavinL knocked out the cost of taking a bog stock j-spec to a 450bhp hybrid beastie.

This was a 'done-properly' excercise, where the turbos are operating in their efficiency range, the fuelling is adequate, properly set up, and checked, and the EGTs are within an acceptable range.

There is some useful info in there. See what you think. Of course, deduct what you've got already from the bill :)

And in case Gareth reads this thread, :moo:

Hmmmm, cheers for that Ian, good reading.

Looking like around 5K for a 100 reliable bhp then. Don't think I can even justify that to myself which is usually very easy. :(

Perhaps I'll just get an intercooler and Stillen bumper for now :( :(

Another controversial one for you guys. Does putting an intercooler on a bpu J-Spec give you more bhp/power/acceleration?

Seems like MKIV.com think it does. (Don't want to start a MKIV.COM vs MKIVSUPRA.NET war here!)

How many RHD j'specs do ya think are in the states?

and getting back to the question

a good FMIC will reduce charge temps which means there could be some additional power to be had on a warm day. I used to find a big power drop on a hot day with a stock IC, changed to an S-type and the car seemed to keep a decent level of power on a hot day as well as on a cold day. So it can give some extra power but its more noticeable on a hot day.

I would say to get to 400bhp (which believe me is pretty damn quick, my import must have only been about that), should cost about £3k, FMIC, decat and exhaust and run up to about 19psi should give you a nice run of power.
