I'm a noob, bear with me. Aftermarket intake.

Ok, so for quite some time i'm looking for an aftermarket intake system but ended up buying nothing because i am too confused with what will fit on my car. The MAF sensor thing, the fact that the most important brands intakes are for 2JZ-GTE(i am NA) and what are all the pieces i really need for this ( i want to do it myself) really made me hesitant about this.

So, what i am asking please, if possible is the part number of the intake that should work with my 1997 Toyota Supra NA ( Non VVTI) from Apexi and HKS( Does K&N being oil coated mess up my sensor ?). Also i would like to know exactly what i need besides the intake kit itself.

Thanks to anyone who can handle such a noob :D

You won't ever get the performance out of an NA which I'm guessing you want from your replies (unless you do go NA-T or swap).

You can get A LOT of noise with decats and exhausts, but the power increase won't be massive.

With the cones and other aftermarket air filters you may be looking at power loss (with some noise increase), there's no real way of knowing. A new filter in the standard box may give some improvement though.

This may be the fact i fear most in my life lol

Anyway...

I'm looking primarily for a better sound and engine response, i realize that real performance is impossible without adding a turbo in the equation and that's not what i am looking for right now.

Considering what all you guys have said i think it's a better idea to go with an Apexi panel filter and a good aftermarket exhaust and a decat and maybe save for some headers in the future..

You can get all the stuff you want from an NA, even without turbos and stuff, but it costs money. You could get tuned manifolds and all sorts to improve throttle response and stuff like that. If you want a quick cheap fix I can't help I'm afraid - maybe some NA owners know of some products that have helped them though.

What I did to my supra. I change manifold exhaust from stock to nick's which I brought from Hoff also change stock exhaust to Blitz nur spec "S". It sound and response much much better. After all i think that's it :) Good service will help to get the most of you car :)

You won't get better engine response, especially if you sit still at lights on a hot day, then promptly hoover up 50degC air out the engine bay when you plonk your foot down. You wil get a nice sucking noise though. If you fit one to look nice and sound nice, fair play, but it will do either nothing or even slow things down a shade - don't be thinking it'll increase power.

Looks like you bought the wrong car. Sounds like you'll never be happy with just an N/A. Either sell it and buy a TT or get an engine transplant.

You're right mate , NA it's not fun at all, apart from the looks i get because it's a Supra lol

The car is a 6spd NA so i decided that NA-TT will be a really good option in my case. :D
