Matt H Posted October 14, 2009 Share Posted October 14, 2009 A few weeks ago I replaced my dial faces with some White Metal Monkey ones. I also coloured my dials black for contrast. I think I want to go back to black as they don't really fit that well in the car with everything else. I was quite excited about having blue light instead of the stock colour, but having fitted the spread of brightness is rather poor. I don't really know what because I haven't changed anything bulbs or positions, just added a filter. It's the overall package in the car I'm not sure about Are they el-glo or backlit? It's simply a blue filter that came with the dials. Simply filters only the blue light through the dials. pistonbroke Posted October 14, 2009 Share Posted October 14, 2009 If you remove the three large bulbs on the back of the cluster, you'll find they have condom things on them that do nothing but dim the bulbs, remove the condom things and it'll make you needles brighter. Yes I have, but the problem I have is not to do with the needles, it's the numbers that are dimmer. They look good, you can still seem that at night which is the important thing! dukenukem Posted October 14, 2009 Share Posted October 14, 2009 Rather than using filters you can try using inverter and refractor LED's. I think you need 3x194 refractors (big ones) and 1x37 inverter LED IIRC. They fit directly into the standard bulb holders but 'cos the refractors are so fat (4 LED's pointing out in a square) they don't fit through the bulb hole so you have to take the dials off the casing and put them in through the front i.e. bit of a pain to fit but come in what ever colours you want, save colouring the dials.
