Homer
the only difference being one type of video gets the thumbs down whilst the other gets the thumbs up (aslong as its a supra in the video which is breaking the law of course). that is my view of the forum homer. if you see it as skewed then so be it. Driving a car fast on an open road vs intentionally soaking and causing a day of hurt to a bunch of school kids (plus potentially endangering them) is comparable then? You and many other seemed to find it funny, while I find it disgusting - more so after reading some of the replies here. Some of you should be ashamed of yourselves. Pistonbroke & adnan especially, would have expected better from you guys really.
mathew
Driving a car fast on an open road vs intentionally soaking and causing a day of hurt to a bunch of school kids (plus potentially endangering them) is comparable then? put simply yes. the spirited driving chronicles very rarely involve a sole car having a run on an empty open road. oh hang on we'l use terms like 'my own private track' and 'leptons' so people think we are doing it all legitimately and they wont start accusing us of being irresponsible and dangerous. if we bring in matt h's 'what if' perspective then a lot can go wrong wether you drive through a puddle and soak kids or are having a high speed race on a public highway against another vehicle. That section is half bullshit anyway. The difference between the driving fast on an open road and this video is that the folks here intentionally set out to ruin someone (well a load of peoples) day. There is a world of difference between a short blast on an open road and intentional actions like this. Do you have any compassion at all?

I guess I must just be desensitized to it then, I see worse driving than that nearly everyday on my way too, and during work. Last week there was a guy in a 200sx doing arabian style drifting down Bromley High Street, one wrong flick and he'd have creamed 20 pedestrians. Just today I was walking my dog, and a guy in a white transit was driving down the pavement (all 4 wheels) to get in front of a que of traffic, he was doing about 30mph!!, if someone walked out from an obscured garden or alleyway, they be brown bread for sure. Desensitised is one thing and I fully understand how folks in your trade (copper isn't it?) have to get to grips with it, but can't understand the rational at laughing at things like this. It's funny that they have been busted, but not funny that they did it, it's a crime after all.
Terminator
Surely the deliberate intent to cause/ inflict suffering, shown in the video and illustrated by a members own admission, is focus here and set this type of behaviour apart from the others described. It just shows a total disregard for the victims. The what could go wrong argument is erroneous as you could say that about any action.
mathew
The what could go wrong argument is erroneous as you could say that about any action. thats my point excactly yet people are bringing that up in this thread. the worst crime these people committed was setting out to soak a few kids which they did. if people dont agree with me finding that funny then so be it, i aint gona lose sleep over it. ive done stupid things in my time and im in no postion to get on my high horse about the couple in the clip and im sure many others have aswell. he without sin and all that jazz..... Yes you're right,I was wrong to do what I did and I apologise for something I did 13 years ago. In my defence, it was outside an auction in Deptford, so my victim was more than likely a criminal anyway, so my actions were probably gods will exacting some "what goes around, comes around" EDIT - ......and if it snows this year, I promise not to throw snowballs at anyone.......................as they might get wet................and the snowball may have come from the gutter area which could cause nasty stains. jonathanc
Two ways you can view this though. Yes, the "act" itself is humourous. I admit I did giggle on the thought of that but upon watching the clip, I didn't find it funny at all. As a mature adult, I think the action is totally unnecessary. Put yourself in the shoes of those kids who got soaked. Honestly tell me that you will laugh and think its funnny as well? I bet you will be cursing your hearts out at the driver. I know I will. Also, from the video, it is apparent that the woman is driving at a great speed, during rainy conditions, in a single lane (or what appears to be) road going downhill. The kids were virtually inches from the car. Taking risks like this is not considered funny, but stupid. Also by posting things like this you will encourage others to try it too. It is right that action should be taken, and I am glad it was on the news so more people will debate about such actions.

michael
What a ridiculous thing to say, you must have quite a skewed view of this forum and some of the people here. Jamie and other folks like him would get the same responses, probably worse if they were twatish enough to do something like this. I disagree, based on past threads where videos of illegal activity have been called into question by members the following happens: 1. Text-based account of event to secure audience. 2. Lots of "sounds awesome, get the video up" posts. 3. Video appears 4. A large quantity of fan responses stating it's the greatest thing ever. 5. One person dares to suggest the video contents are foolish. 6. A large quantity of fan responses to that brave person suggesting they are gay / a loser / etc 7. Similar brave people speak up to confirm they also feel the video contents are a little silly.. 8. A smaller number of fans continue to battle on behalf of the original poster who is strangely quiet. 9. A moderator suggests they are also in agreement that the video shouldn't have been uploaded, do what you like but don't hurt anyone else etc... 10. Video suddenly disapears from hosting site. 11. People continue to say how amazing it sounded. 12. Late fans ask where they can see the video. 13. Frustratated requests that the video must be put back, maybe somewhere else and a PM sent to those who missed it. 14. Thread locked at OPs request. Don't dare to suggest it would be anything but this, the threads have been and gone to confirm this. Ultimately driving like a cock gets two types of reply on here from two types of people, it's a fact.

Scott
I think driving through puddles and soaking people is funny. I have done it in the past and i have had it done to me (either deliberately or undeliberately). In the past when i have done it deliberately i have chosen my target, i'm not the type of guy to soak some old person out for a walk. Its usually the "look at me" type or the Chav type that i have went for. I have always done so in a safe and controlled manor, certainly not at speed and not accelerating. FWIW i watched the video last night and while it still made me chuckle i can see why she is having the book thrown at her (that may be part of the reason i sniggered). There is no way she was under complete control of that vehicle. The speed she was traveling at for those conditions is shocking, especialy to accelerate through a puddle. The guy should be getting a ticking off too for egging her on. I don't think there is a fine line on this though. There are conditions to when doing such a thing can be safe and there are conditions where it is unsafe. Obviously the video shows the latter. However, i am still yet to hear anyone give an example of when such a "stunt" has gone wrong. Would be interesting to know the statistics of such an incident. Matt H
Btw, I didn't expect this thread to get so much response. I thought it was rather self explanatory: It was out of order and dangerous, but 'you have laugh', anyone that didn't have a slight naughty snigger when that tidal wave engulfed those little school goes must have had a funny bone removed! Still, throw the book at them, it was out of order and could have ended so badly. IBTL

Ultimately driving like a cock gets two types of reply on here from two types of people, it's a fact. For once I totally agree with Michael. Doing 140mph is fine as you aren't putting children at risk. No obvious children in the clear road ahead makes it a far better crime. Obviously you could crash, have a tyre blowout, flip into the opposite lane, and hurt innocent drivers on the other side of the dual carriage way or worse.. Or you could crash in your own lane and another car plough into you after you are knocked out in the middle of the road. But hey, that is fine. Splashing kids is an incredible criminal offence. So much so it carries 3 points. Not like the fact the law hasn't recognise how dangerous speeding and racing on the road is in comparison. Afterall, for that crime it's an automatic driving ban losing your driving license instantly and a possible prison sentence. But its clear who the biggest "cocks" are in this example. This forum has some of the most hyprocirital members I have seen of any. I knew that years ago. It always has been an underground popularity contest and will continue to be. Had someone else of higher status posted up that link the comments would be very different. Ultimately, I am not saying splashing people is safe, far from it. And no-one said it was. Yet calling people who laugh at this terrible and beyond, whilst 99% of people speed on this forum on a regular basis, and some very very recklessly who have also conveniently video'd there performances (accompanied with complimentary comments, cheering and egging from some of these hyprocrites on here too). Just plain hyprocritical BS.
