What is the cheapest old banger to insure?

Quick question for you knowledgeable lot - what old banger would be the cheapest to insure?

I ask because having worked outside the UK for more than 2 years, I have now lost all of my NCB. Because of the nature of my employers insurance (and the places I was working), no-one will give me any NCB bonus for having driven a company car.

So it would seem that the safest option is to buy an old banger for a few quid, insure and leave it on the drive to rot. I tried insuring my father-in-law's 1981 v8 Range Rover (which is a restoration project and doesn't even move!), but the best quotes I had were over $1500 (I mean pounds - there's no pound sign on this bloody keyboard!) third-party only, 29 years old living in Northern Ireland, clean licence and no crashes within the last 5 years :(

I'm currently thinking an old Fiesta, but please feel free to add any opinions :)

A newish non-sporty Skoda Fabia is something like Group 1 or 2, but obviously not cheap to buy.

I'd suggest anything popular with middle-aged or older people, e.g. Honda Civic 1.4 circa P-reg (same shape as Rover 400). Not cool or trendy, but cheap to buy and I'd guess cheap to insure. Also, they last for ever if serviced as any car should be.
