Guest dannyhaddon
hi, joined today. Ive got a 05 yaris tsport at the min and looking for a twin turbo supra as a new car, just insurance is bad for me at my age, with 3yrs no claims in dec, so ive been looking at a few quotes, the cheapest is £1487 from the broker king tpft. I know there must be cheaper around.anyone else had a quote at my age?
stevie_b
Insurance is a very specific thing, depending on your age, postcode, where you keep the car, mileage etc etc. Having said that, £1500 for a 21 year old on a TT doesn't sound too bad. Try Adrian Flux, Sky (they might not do younger drivers though), A-Plan, Admiral.
miko_supra
try elephant. Should get it under a grand fully comp if you have good ncb
Gaz6002
I'd advise against going TPF&T personally. That may put the Supra out of reach for now, but there's a reason for that.
Stonkin
Agree with Gaz mate. If you can only get a supra by being insured TPFT, choose another car until your ready or that dream could all end in tears
Dan_Turism0
I'm 23 with 1 years NCB and got a quote on a UK TT supra for £580 (£860 for import) through Admiral/Elephant, might be worth talking to Skyinsurance aswell.
Jamesy
I spoke with A-Plan the other day and the TPF&T rates are mostly coming out MORE than fully comp at the moment.

Lee_e
im 21 and currently with a company through adrian flux , i have 3 yrs ncb and im paying 1345 a year . not bad i suppose i will add that adrian flux where very good in what they know etc etc but im sure the club insurers (sky) know more and may give you a better quote. good luck and enjoy
Guest dannyhaddon
got a quote from adrian flux for 1200 tpft, 1345 fully comp. Why dont you agree with tpft? When i used confused.com admiral was 2k.

When i used confused.com admiral was 2k. 1. with your quote above, is it worth losing a car (if your fault) for the sake of £145 2. the supra is a car, realistically na or tt, with a fairly powerfull engine that can get you to speeds where sometimes 'things' can happen 3. generally being fully comp means you can at least drive other cars (with permission) under TPFT, which can be very useful if required 4. because TPFT sucks

Kirk
steel turbos rather than ceramic and bigger injectors, engine wise that is

Insuring an import as a UK car would be an offence, but I'm sure you know that
Guest dannyhaddon
are tt import autos cheaper to insure than a tt import manual? Just got a £600difference from a quote.
miko_supra
are tt import autos cheaper to insure than a tt import manual? Just got a £600difference from a quote. Yeah I called about this, they said its because of my age. Because i'm 22, i cant use a manual gearbox aswell as someone older so an automatic is better suited of course. stevie_b
are tt import autos cheaper to insure than a tt import manual? Just got a £600difference from a quote. Probably £600 difference. In all seriousness, I don't know if there's a general difference. If I were you I'd phone up a couple more insurers and see if they quote a similar difference to you. stevie_b
I'm 21, 3 years NCB, clean license. £951 fully comp on an import TT. How the heck did you guys manage to afford a supra at such a young age? That's not a criticism, it's just an observation. I've never been a spendthrift and regard myself as careful with money, but for me buying, insuring and maintaining one before I was 25 ish would have been out of the question. Fair play to you if you can afford it. When I first bought a supra, I had in mind a ceiling of £1000 for insurance. If it came in at over that (luckily it didn't) then I would have walked away completely from supra ownership.
Guest dannyhaddon
£951 thats cheap, i tried sky and keith micheals yesturday, they couldnt match adrian flux's £1344 fc, im now thinking of getting a n/a instead, seen a few nice ones around. But fully comp doesnt seem any different to a tt than a n/a,
