imi
I know this sounds daft and some will hate me, but I think they should introduce a licence structer that relates to the power of the car you are driving, so that if it is above say 280bhp you have to take an advanced High Performance Driving Test. Its like any dick brain can get a licence in a Nissen Micra..then the day after they pass they can go and buy a McClaren F1 or a Merc McClaren after driving a 1.1 for a couple of lessons! I agree with that. Dont you guys think its crazy that as a learner you NEVER get to experience what its like to drive on the motorway (joining, changing accelerating, decelerating) - yet once youve passed your test - you can drive straight on the motorway. Not like that in Germany.....
JamesG
Should definitely be motorway test for learners (or an extra test once they've passed), but don't agree with a high-performance car test. How would it work? Anyone could drive a fast car like a Supra as long as they aren't pushing it. It only when you reach the limits that it can all go wrong for an inexperienced and over-confident driver. So you couldn't possibly have a test on the public road that tests whether a driver will make a mistake on the limit. The only way would be something like you can't drive a car over X bhp until you've had your licence for Y years. But that wouldn't work either as it's too hard to categorise cars based on power. I guess that is sufficient. probably better to bring in an advanced driving test for car of insurance group 17 and higher.
JamesG
They'd probably have to say no modifications allowed then, otherwise everyone will be whacking 2 litre engines in their Corsas
imi
corsas arent fast and certainly NOT sports cars, despite what corsa drivers tell you

imi
Tell Adam Kindness that. His Corsa wasn't much slower than his Supra TT Whoever he is...? Sounds like something was wrong with his TT Obviously wasnt a standard corsa....Was he comparing it to a standard Supra TT? Mod both and lets see which one is faster in the straight, corners (better overall package) FFS its a corsa....need I say more..
Jurgen-Jm-Imports
naseem will just pay his cousin again and say he wasnt drivin and give him a back hander like what happened to his P1

Don't just assume Supras are faster than everything else! Some clapped out old car with a load of work under the bonnet will take you by surprise one day! I'm not defending Corsas btw, I had one and it was nasty!

carl0s
Hes probably just good at going round " in rings" very good on the subject of advanced / further driving tests, I think there needs to be some education on lane discipline. It's taken as law that we must drive on the left and only use the outer lanes for overtaking, but on the motorway a lot of new drivers think this doesn't apply. When cars behind start flashing their lights and doing 'wanker' hand gestures, they have no clue. There should at least be a lane-discipline campaign. I'm sure I've moaned about this on usenet before ! edit: oh yeah, I did!
