Aldo87
Im thinking on getting a mid 90's bmw 3 series coupe as a run around and im just wanting to know if anyone has any input as to which engine I should go for. My mate has an old 318is and loves it but there is a nice 323 up for sale near me that I would like to go for, but are they heavy on fuel? Any help is appreciated
n boost
You would probaly be better off with a 2.0-2.5 as they are similar on fuel anyway. The smaller engines struggle to pull the weight of the car, so end up getting more strained and use more fuel. 323i are fine as are the 325i and i would consider a 328i if fuel is not a major problem because the 328i only drinks a touch more than the 325i and is pretty nimble as well. bromy
I have been driving a e36 328 for the last few weeks it is very smooth and quiet and is returning 30mpg
bigbloodyturbo
323 is more frugal than the 325 even though its still a 2.5 litre, trying to find a nice e36 325 is next to impossible now anyway so I think a 323 is your only option between those two. If you go for a 328 make sure you get a 97 or later car as the earlier 328's had the nicasil coated liner problem that gives them premature bore wear.
