dr_jekyll
the is200 have week boxes from what i have heard. so that piece of art will destroy it i would think
Andy-No-Knee
Why go manuel?? Spend as little as £600 on the auto box (as long as it isnt already shagged) and it will handle the power. (As long as you are putting out less than 550 at the engine). If you want to stay auto but have more power than that (looking at the single I would doubt it) or if the box is already shagged then get a rebuild kit from the states and get the box rebuilt for between £500 to £800, kit costing $800. Job done. PS - Look in my garage and you will see I know a wee bit about modding Soarers...
gsportcars
The IS200 box won't bolt to the 1jz. It is a getrag box but different bell housings. The same box is used in the Honda s2000, nissan s15 etc so will handle power to a point but maybe not single 1jz power. There are also many other issues with fitting the 1jz itself into the IS200. As advised above the easier option would be to fit the R154 but then if we all picked the easy option then we would have a dull dull world lol. dr_jekyll
if you can get your hands on an aristo (is300) they have a different box and diff , they came with the 2jz-ge from factory so droping your 1jz into one of them shouldnt be a problem
gsportcars
The Aristo is the jap import version of the GS300 not the IS300. They are all auto's too. The IS300 is available in the UK but only as an auto. The yanks got the manual version which uses I think the w58 box. The only reason the diff should be of any concern is if you want a particular final drive ratio. certain diffs are interchangable but it is a bit of a minefield where diffs are concerned. gsportcars
The Altezza is the jap import of the IS200 but it has the same gearbox and diff although the box has a different bell housing again as the starter motor is on the opposite side. The altezza has the 3s-ge 2.0litre 4pot engine that produces 210bhp. One of the best engines ever made I think. Other than that the IS200 and RS200 are very simliar with regards to spec. Swampy442
Its a common mod in the states/Canada as well as puting 2JZs into IS200's. Its not a straight forward bolt up job though. Im going single on my Soarer next year
