Any tips for removing the bottom 'crank' pulley, in particular how undo the bolt and secure the pulley whilst doing so? Is the bolt Left Hand thread?

Breaker bar on nut, crank engine once.

Use holding tool on the pulley and torque wrench on bolt. Pic shows a home made tool with two high tensile bolts into existing pulley threaded holes (x 2).

OEM TT pulley: Two holes, 65mm centre to centre. I used 8mm high tensile bolts (M8 x 40), the heads have 8.8 stamped on them. I know very little about metric sizing, I just bought a small range of bolts until some fitted. They have a fine thread with a possible pitch of 1.0

The threads in the pulley holes will be clogged and may need cleaning first.
