jackso11
Intake I am guessing, also is the throttle body combined in that 'lump' of metal? I wan to clean mine up with autosol, any ideas how long it will take me? best with a polishing wheel? and can you just take it off to clean it? Homer
Electronic Throttle Control System, I think. It's the mechansim in the throttle body and the gubbins attached to it. Not a very technical explaination but that's the best I can do It'll be a right bugger to clean it up as you'd need to take off the sensors, etc. They don't come off easily. Also, it's cast so autosol won't work very well with it.
Miguel
Bang on, and the later ETCS-i was the same but the "i" stood for intelligence.
jackso11
hmm, If I do take everything off will it just go back together again or are there things that need to be 'setup' that I would mess up by taking it to bits? Guess its a polishing wheel drill job, or powder coating. has anyone powder coated theirs?
Terminator
By taking it to bits you will disturb the sensor positions. These would have to be reset. Resist the temptation to polishing every thing, it is the start of a slippery slope. I wish I had stayed with the dark side, now I have some polished bits in the engine bay I have to keep the damb things polished, ARRPITA and a total waste of time. jackso11
I gues your right with the polishing. I think I would rather have it powder coated in black chrome, along withthe cam covers. That way they don't have to be super shiney and polished all the time. Still got to get it off though...
jackso11
Just been looking at this post.. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=39225&highlight=fitting+throttle+body and people seem to take off the ETCS and put it back on with no problem, am I going to mess sensors up if I take it off to clean?
