The truth's obout Xbox Live banning

I've slimmed this right down as i've been moaned at for long posts. These clear up 2 very common misconceptions about the Xbox live ban (for playing backups, not anything to do with Feedback etc). This is in no way promoting piracy.

Question 1 is based on the assumption you've played a "bad" Rip of a game ie Isnt Stealth checked, Verified with ABGX or CRC's dont match.

1.) Will i still get banned if i play the game offline?

Yes. Info is stored on the HDD of every disc played on the Xbox, when you connect back to live this info will be sent to Microsoft, you will be flagged and banned in the next banning wave.

2.) Will i get banned for playing games before the release date.

Yes and No. If you have a good Rip ie All CRC's match and its an exact carbon copy of the game then no you wont. Catch 22 is you wont know if its a good/bad rip until the release date as a verfied copy wont be uploaded to the ABGX database to check against until the official release date.

Always run every backup through ABGX on autofix level 3. This will ensure the game is stealth patched, all CRC's match, its Veryfied against the known Rip and will autofix any of the prementioned for you....this post is still pretty long :D

Also biggest way to stop problems.

Install to hard drive. If your Disc only spins once for access less chance of being caught regarding some of their methods of catching you.

Your referring to the slight difference in RPM of Backup discs to Originals. I'm not 100% but i think this was only a problem with older firmware, if you have the most current firmware and you have a verfied rip, you will not get banned.

im currently having a massive argument at work with a group of 6 of my mates who are bitching at me to get mine flashed like they have all done.

my argument with them all is i dont fancy having my xbox live cancelled but also the fact all of them are moaning about how microsoft are ripping everyboddy off and if games were cheaper they wouldnt be doing what they are doing.

their argument stopped when even though they are getting 3 games for a tenner they all buy diffrent ones and then copying them with each other as well so even at 3 games for a tenner they still arent happy and ripping off even the copy guy...

you can see how much game makers are losing just from these 6 alone theres at least £800 gone west. if you want to play a game pay for it just like you are supposed to you wouldnt be happy if somebody was stealing that kind of money from yourself after all

Ive been banned once when the very first dashoard update kicked in, me and 9 of my mates. Since then Ive just had regular software updates, sorts that out.

Do you buy the backups or dl them yourself? If you buy them, make sure they're run through ABGX before they're burned and you'd never need worry again.

Ive just spent last day upgrading my hdd drive up to 120Gb for £30. Just trying to copy data over now if possible, if not not the end of the world, just glad didnt have to pay stupid prices for microsofts over inflated portable harddrives

Once 250Gb model is out you'll be able to upgrade to that for around £45

I buy them, Ive had no problems in 3 years but Ill certainly ask. I take it you do them?

Yeah, i do them myself, they're pretty easy. I was thinking about making a follow up thread on how to do them, but i'm not sure if the mods will be okay with it. I can post a cpl links on here if you like which are easy to follow, anything else you get stuck on i can prob answer myself.

Nice, where did you get the replacment HDD? Is it a standard Xbox HDD or a portable HDD you've rigged in yourself? My mate used his own portable one, i couldnt be arsed with all the hassle lol.

I think puting such info on a public forum isnt the wisest idea dude..

Thats what i thought which is why i never bothered. I was only gonna post links to other related forums with the info anyway so there woudlnt be any infringement. PM me if you want any extra info, downloading ImageBurn would be a good place to start, theres a thread on how to configure it for optimum settings if you google it, and its free. Its a pretty good all round burning program tbh. You'll need ABGX aswell, its essential.

I got it from DABS.com just a normal western digital hard drive and flashed the firmware so it could be read in xbox.

then put it in my 20Gb microsoft hard drive case.

Glad modding the xbox hdd doesnt infringe guarantee as its not opening the case up.

Thanks for that, think i'll try that when i get home. The box is much quieter if your playin the game off the HDD :D

As a kid, I had my fair share of "backup" games, but now I work I wouldn't dream of ripping off games. When you compare games against other forms of entertainment, they represent extremely good value for money. The cinema for example is much more expensive on a pounds per hour basis. It's freetards like your colleagues that drive up prices the studios need to charge to create the games.

I can assure you, up until the last 3 months i wouldnt have dreamed of playing backups either, but its amazing how having all your games stolen from your house not once but twice makes you begrudge buying them for a third time. I dont sell or make copies for other ppl either, and the games i really want i usually buy as i get the Ltd Ed ones with the graphic arts stuff.
