AlexJames
oil cooler for the pas fluid... that fan is standard. comes mainly on a lot of tts. but they get that corroded most take them off as they dont work now anyway! I thought they were the A/C pipes?
L33
all mine were removed, so was the fan to fit the FMIC
Dnk
It looks simply like the part of the radiator the draws air into it when stationary. the Viscous fan on the other side blows air over the engine. I'm I missing something here?! LOL the viscous fan draws air through the radiator to help cool it, its not there to blow air over the engine My uk spec didnt have any cooling fans infront of the rad but guess it could be differant for a j spec. jevansio
My J-Spec didn't have one, follow the power to the loom, you'll see if it's aftermarket or has been there from new where it's attached to the loom probably,
Miguel
My J-Spec had it, as did nearly every stock Supra I worked on. It's the air-con rad cooler fan and is temperature activated. Part number in case anyone is interested: 88590-14090
jackso11
How do people find their aircon without it.....still nice and cold?
jevansio
My car never had one & my A/C was icy cold (until I ripped it out)
Dnk
Mines fine and never had that fan, pic of front of my car minus the bumper and fmic
Gambit
How did this get to the bottom of page 2 before a realistic answer??? It's your air con fan, in hot conditions it kicks in. If your gas level is low it won't cut in at all. http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/6456/image1ex.jpg Edited October 8, 2009 by Gambit (see edit history)

Air flow through the a/c rad is doing the same job whilst on the move.
Chris Wilson
It also helps airflow through the water rad, as the heat from the condenser lowers the water rads efficiency when slow moving or stopped. More for very hot climates than good old Blighty.
leelbuk
Had it on mine so when me and edge fitted the FMIC I replaced it with a slimline electric fan for completeness. Might have been a waste of 30 quid as I've yet to see it come on. My air con is no different than before
jackso11
are you aircon pipes still there with a FMIC?
Guest SupraGTE
Yes my aircon pipes are there on both cars on my coupe with HKS R they are there , on my targa with a HDI Hybrid intercooler they are there just bent a bit but not much
Miguel
The pipes you see through the front are not A/C. They are P/S and they are usualy replaced with a smaller set supplied with the front mount I/C, although some manage to mod the stock to fit
jackso11
is there a way to de-gas the aircon and get those pipes off? I want to get all the rust off
Homer
This is the first time I have seen another supra with one of those fans in front of the radiator. The Punisher has one of these on his one it's always made me wonder why it's there as I'd never seen one on another Supra. The rad and every other part in the engine bay was stock GZ aerotop spec, the fan looked like it was there from day one and like your one is very rusty! I'd assumed it was due to the rad being from a different Toyota model, but it is the rare "thick" Supra rad and looks like it's been there from the start... movistar
is there a way to de-gas the aircon and get those pipes off? I want to get all the rust off fella they are your power steering cooling pipes not air con. Clamp off at the rubber pipes that connect onto it and hey pesto you can remove to clean. I know your car as I did an inspection of it for the previous owner shortly after she bought it
