Which one did you change? There are 2, one for the gauge and one for the ECU.

Is that a serious question...?

Sounds normal to me you have to give it time to get oil round, take her steady till shes warm, I never go into the turbo untill the car is warmed up !, But mine is a little like that when cold.

I don't think it's normal; since it's been doing this it's been guzzling juice as well.

Are you pushing the car too hard while it's still cold?

I'm pretty sure the car has a built in sort of 'safe mode' until it gets up to temp. If you're trying to cane it while it's cold, a temp sensor will be the least of your worries.

I'm not thrashing it, all the issues I have can be seen at 40mph and pre boost.

Update.

I noticed the other day that there was oil on the black strip of the front bumper, drivers side again..... This was caused by a crack in the inter cooler, after I got it fixed the car ran great for a week or two.

Today I took the smic out and bugger me it's cracked down the back edge now..

Original crack after repair welding.

New crack in green and location of original crack in red.

For the reckoning this is the Miami-gt 165mm big one.

Looks like the hard corner is a week spot.

Should be fixed on Monday so lets see what mid week brings.

Now that is interesting. I have not seen a SMIC do that before and I wonder if it is a general weak spot on the Miami GT SMICs.

I would suggest anybody with one fo the Miami GT side mount intercoolers gets it checked.

From the pics it looks like the welds have been smoothed off.

It's not that m8.

The first picture shows the weld I had done to repair a crack it's splitting on a bend not a weld. I think the bend is so sevear on a thin piece of metal, it's just cr@pping out.

I will ask Radtec about this and post up what they reply, if anything...... Unless they tell me what to go do with myself...

Don't know if this is related or not but I have a '93 manual non-turbo and I get a very similar thing to you in the mornings.

When I start it up and pull out of my drive, going down the road, if I take my foot off the accelerator, she physically lurches and the nose dips - nearly like giving a quick hard jab to the breaks, but not exactly.

After that car has warmed up, it does not really happen.

I have never driven a big engined manual car before, always having been automatic, and I had been putting it down to me not being in the right gear but that does not really explain it.

But looking at this thread, it seems that it may be something that is normal on these cars as there are a few that seem to do the same thing.

Or else we all have the same problem.....

Oh, forgot to say, this happens around the same speeds you have mentioned as well. Higher speeds it does not seem to happen at all. Or at least I can't say I have really noticed it happening at higher speeds at any rate.

Hopefully this will sort out my problem.

On a note about Radtec the maker. I emailed them about what had happened and they got straight back to me saying, they have no idea what has happened and they've never had this problem before and if I send it to them they will fix it free of charge. Bare in mind I bought it in 2006, you can't really say fairer than that.

I went to Thor today, was there all day, really nice people.

Before anyone asks, no time for dyno run.

Peter took it out for a run, when I got there and says it pulls really well from the off, with less hesitation than a lot he's driven.

Since I went there to find out why it was lazy from cold, this wasn't what I wanted to hear....

Anyway, they left it for four hours or so, so it could cool down. Then they set about checking tps, ecu..... Tightened throttle cable as it was very loose and tps was a dog hair off, so adjusted that.

My speed converter according to Peter was wired wrong, so there was some rewiring done behind the dash and the harness to my ecu wasn't very tight.

Peter took it out after this when it had cooled down thoroughly on return his findings were........ Nothing wrong with it!

Hopefully that means they fixed it with there work and not that it was putting on a good face, just for them.

On a plus note, I found out why I never had to fit a fuel cut defender, when I opened up the exhaust. A previous owner kindly fitted a Mines ecu.

Only time will tell if it's fixed

Ps. I met Sam who bought the v8 while I was there, really nice lady. DaphneHoneybutt, to the forum..... I suppose the name is a fair shout. :eyebrows:

Really sweet boot install and I love the head unit.

Sorry I didn't introduce myself properly, I was busy fighting hyperthermia, dam it was cold!
