stevie_b
After checking this morning to confirm that it hadn't been credited to my account (it hadn't) I've just phoned them up to chase it. At first they said it can take up to 9 weeks for payment to go through, but I assured them that the 9 weeks was definitely up. They said they can't trace it via my account and the best thing is for you to phone them and chase it. I find it amazing that they don't hold database records that can cross-check recommenders as well as recommendees. Maybe they do, but perhaps their front-end applications that the call-centre staff use can't access this info. It's a little disappointing that we have to chase this at all. DJButler
Iv'e banked with this lot for around thirty years with no problem at all, until yesterday that is. I had to pay around three grand out and decided to use my debit card to do it, having checked there was more than enough money to cover it. Well there i am punching in the PIN and up comes a verify request, dealer rings up the security centre and then passes me the phone for the security questions, i answer and they decline the transaction. Now i am not best pleased so we try again, second attempt and declined, now i am really pi**ed of so i ring the A&L and take them to task about it, they then tell me i was born on the thirteenth and not the twelfth, anyway i get them to correct it and they tell me to wait five mins and then it will all work ok. So i wait five mins and try again, guess what, declined. Ring the A&L again but this time a bit more forcefully, NO I AM NOT ANSWERING YOUR BL**DY QUESTIONS, just you pin your ears back while i tell you what you are going to do. Well now we get sucess so i ring them back and say, now you have shown me you can do what you are told you may now transfer all funds in my acount to my Nationwide account and close my account. That worked as well and our thirty year relationship has ended. I don't care what bank it is they all treat existing customers like sh1t and spend all their time chasing new ones. mawby
So I phone them up. Guess what, they can't chase the payment from my account without all your details too! So they have requested you let me know your postcode, date of birth, and your account number, then I can phone them back and try again.

mawby
Phoned them again. Not a painful process really. They took the details and said they will write to me in 5 to 7 working days explaining what's going on. Just give me the money! /vbb/images/smilies/bbcode_grin.gif
marbleapple
Halifax charge £1 per day for their overdrafts now on most accounts. Makes my blood boil. A couple of weeks ago my car company took their 1st payment early.... I went over my overdraft. They charged me £20 odd pounds and then rather than declining transactions I made (I was unaware the payment had gone out) or contacting me, they charged me £20 odd pounds for every transaction I did for a week including my £1.20 for a pack of T cakes. I closed all my accounts and I am now with natwest.
