Scott
You can get the instant filling things from the chemist as far as i know. I've pulled a couple of teeth, nothing too it when they are fooked.

Indeed you can, that's all I used, nothing too exciting Lost a chunk of tooth, couldn't get an appointment for a few days and it had left a sharp edge that was tearing my tongue up so I filled it in with one of the temp kits from the chemist. They work quite well but can't cope with much biting force, it's also quite tempting to start smoothing your whole tooth collection with it to make a more interesting smile. Kev.O
Michael, as you're based in Leeds have you thought about going to the uni dentist? Not sure if there's a waiting list but I'm sure they could do a better job than you did and it wouldn't kill your wallet
CJ
On the subject of dentistry, are the NHS free dentists a thing of the past or are they still available?
michael
Michael, as you're based in Leeds have you thought about going to the uni dentist? Not sure if there's a waiting list but I'm sure they could do a better job than you did and it wouldn't kill your wallet I hadn't considered it to be honest, I just rang my usual NHS dentist up but they wouldn't see me because apparently I'd missed a check-up or not arranged one when they sent me a letter. I hated the dentist I had been given anyway, he wasn't very good. Ended up going private at another local practice but I had quite a bit on so couldn't get there that quickly. I enjoyed my DIY work, it was a bit of a pain when it fell out part way through a rather tasty ploughman's lunch though My current private dentist isn't posh enough for the prices charged and you still have to mix with the NHS people, I want to try and move somewhere else but the dentist is quite good so I'm torn. On the subject of dentistry, are the NHS free dentists a thing of the past or are they still available? Still available but you generally have to wait for practices to start taking people on again and all the places go very quickly. Sometimes they have a waiting list but people don't die quickly enough.
Terminator
I chipped a tooth when I was a kid. I found fine file in my dads tools in the shed. Sneaked my mums make up mirror in to the shed and filed away. Took the sharp edges off and it has been fine ever since. No dentist has ever noticed. AndyT
On the subject of dentistry, are the NHS free dentists a thing of the past or are they still available? Depends on area and spaces CJ. NHS fees are £16.85 for the check up if you're gainfully employed.
Kev.O
My girlfriend is practicing denistry at Leeds uni, and from what I can gather, they are well supervised, so it's not like the local lad at kwit fit who's left to get on with it. TBH the standard is probably better there, than any local dentist. It's a bit like having your driving instructor sat next to you all day

I fancy some blue pointed teeth.

I am no longer a full time resident of the UK but I am still registred at my Doctors and hold a NHS number etc. Could I get treatment during a visit back to the UK or would this be seen as sneaky? Yeh it's illegal - someone I know in cyprus had to pay to see a GP over Christmas when they returned to the UK for the week.

peter richards
been private for a few years now , makes you think looking back did they do a lot of unnecessary work , as now i haven't had a filling for ages and 6 monthly check up takes a few minutes . 25 a month doesn't seem worth it tbh , although as im not a spring chicken anymore , i might just get my moneys worth in the next few years lol

Can you expand? I am a UK passport holder with a house here in the UK. I am also registered with a UK health centre. How come it is illegal? Viv
If everyone started carrying out their own extractions there would be no work for me when I qualify next year.
