RedM
F***ing, ****ing heap of French ****spatter. Failed on seven counts! Front tyres below minimum, headlights out of alignment, track rods have excessive play, rear drum brakes juddering badly and an extra point for being French and therefore sh*t. I'm glad I asked for an oil and filter change too as I now have to pay £388 just for the displeasure of being able to still drive it. Still, if my week off starts this badly it can only improve. Right?
michael
Wouldn't £388 buy you another one with some MOT on it?

RedM
Wouldn't £388 buy you another one with some MOT on it? It probably would but we don't have £388 in ready cash so it's going on the credit card.

Scott
You have no excuse for the tyres or the headlights. I don't understand why people don't do these basic checks on their own before they put the car in. Granted in this case it wouldn't have made a difference but every litle helps
absz
Its only failed on items that should have been done on a service ? being french has nothing to do with it:p

Granted in this case it wouldn't have made a difference but every litle helps Headlights have always seemed fine to me. I don't know if they were slightly high or massively way off. How wold one check without the gauge thing that they use? As for the tyres I looked at them yesterday and they were still plenty above the minimum depth marker! Not sure about this one. Maybe they were worn in an area I couldn't see. I don't have the facility to get the car up on a ramp or even a jack due to our driveway. Its only failed on items that should have been done on a service ? being french has nothing to do with it:p Trackrod ends are a service item then? Sounds like a poorly maintained car! Too f**king right. I hate the f**king thing. The less I have to spend on it the better as far as I'm concerned. The Supra used to get it all done properly because I loved it. This beast won't because I don't. You can then view the entire tred pattern of the fronts. The rears you can generally see on a stock height car. Headlights is just a judgement really. You need to see what they should be set at first though. Trackrod ends are a service item then? Depends who is doing the service. They aren't a service item but they are generally given a check while doing a service. The replacement of them isn't part of the service though. Too f**king right. I hate the f**king thing. absz
not having a go. just pointing out that these are service items, and YES trackrods are checked on a service including all the other suspension/brakes/steering etc etc. MOT inspection is not the only inspection a car should rely on. mplavery
I think Peugeot are great cars My last 306 td i bought for £300 with 120k on , had it for 3 years and spent about another £200 on the odd tyre and drop link bars and some pads and dics..all from pattern parts at trade prices. When it got to 230k i gave it to a friend as i was offerd another 306td S with 80k..i have changed front discs and pads and its done 140k now..Always starts first time...great on fuel..Great cars
Scott
Peugeot are shit cars (i have one). The best thing to come out of france as far as cars go is the 1.9 TDI engine from the 306. I don't even know if they made the engine but it IS fantastic. The 106Gti that i have is a close second, it still has the same flaws as all the other french dross though.
