devan
My 1994 NA Supra has the LSD option, But i was looking in the fusebox cover yesterday and noticed that the 'Diff Cool' fuse slot was empty, and also, i dont have any buttons or anything on the dash (dont know if there is supposed to be). Just wandering if there is any way if i could tell if i had a functional LSD?
j1mb0b1
I dont think N/A's have LSD ? but someone will be along soon to confirm this
Chiefgroover
diff cool is prob for the diff cooler on euro spec cars. Get a quiet bit of road, rev it up dump the clutch in first and if you have two long lines of rubber then you have one.
JustGav
Either check the VIN plate (which might not be valid if it has been changed) or more fun go with Chiefgroover's idea
Abz
Yep as mentioned above check VIN to confirm & if your only burning rubber on one wheel then you either don't have LSD or it does not work.
devan
Yeah its got the VIN plate 'B' which means it has an LSD, whereas one without has an 'A'. OK ill give it a go on a bit of quiet road then lol. Just to confirm, does the LSD equal out the spin on the wheels?

Kirk
it doesnt matter how it works, you dont need an LSD and i do so lets swap my open diff for yours
devan
hmm lol. Cheers for the video heckler.
Jamesy
Is it that easy to tell if u have lsd fitted with the skid marks? Would a car with a standard diff only leave one skid mark from one tyre? Mine seems to step out pretty easily even in the dry but the previous owner never mentioned lsd
dukenukem
Here you go... 1st ones a TT with a standard diff (one wheel spinning). The second bits an NA with an LSD (more fun). Get it?
dr_jekyll
lift the back of the car and turn one wheel by hand , if its an lsd the other wheel should turn with it the same way, if the other wheel dosnt turn or if in gear goes the opposite way its not an lsd
Jay_vr6
surely the diff won't lock up at virtually 2 miles an hour by jacking the car up ? mine didn't, although i guess it depends how the lsd works, i thought the supra has many small friction plates that needed to get hot before locking) I did the burnout test in the end and that confirmed it, now i have a TT engine you can really feel it kick in. Jamesy
Not sure that's true mate as when I spin one side of my LSD the other side spins the other way. does anyone know the answer to this?? i tried this on my car last week when it was on a ramp, if i turned one back wheel clockwise the other side turned anticlockwise. does that mean it does or doesn't have LSD?
