paul mac
To be fair to Eric i'd suggest we don't start slagging him off on this forum. We've had no issues with him and have enjoyed his build thread from start to finish. The Internet is free to search to anyone, so if they want to read the catty comments i'm sure they can find it without ruining our good club spirit. spot on
cowboy bebop
I thought that. So one of the main 'supposed' issues was the porting, the other was a high compression. Any basis to these? My fault was that I shared my build journey as it went along and posted all the high points along with the challenges.
Guest elitecustombody
Did you do it for free mate? Just wondering; that's the impression I'm getting. Again, I believe I've put 22,000 into the motor, but I'm open to resonable offers. Eric So me being naive and believing pictures, I was under impression I was getting a well taken care of motor and bunch os shiny parts to go along with that healthy 1000+hp motor.Boy, was I wrong! Damaged Fluidyne from blown head gasket HKS DLI missing harness Blown GT74-88 Burnt valves Missing Ti retainer was replaced by stock found in oil pan I know it was partially my fault trusting someone who had a great reputation on Supraforums.com and without actually physically checking the motor and parts in person before I made the deal. But how I was taken advantage of, was a big shock to me,especially when Eric mentionned that I should have taken a trip to Orlando and checked out the motor in person while I was still working on the widebody, but that was during out heated discussion after the trade was done ,I was rudely surprized by what I got in the end,I'll talk about that a little later. It all started when Eric came to pick up the widebody and dropped of my "shiny" motor and parts. That day was very hectic and I was running like crazy trying to finish installing bumper and few little things,so I never had a chance to take a good look at what I got in the trade. It was Saturday late night when I sadly helped getting the widebody on the trailer, because I never got a chance to take decent photos of the car all together, knowing how hard I worked on it and how much time I have invested in that car. So the short weekend was over and it was Monday, I finally get a chance to look over the motor and all the parts Eric dropped off in some boxes.I was very dissapointed when I saw the actual condition of the parts and the appearance of the motor, Eric sure could have found the time in 2 years atleast wipe and clean all the parts and motor,HKS blue belt turned black from dirt,oil,e.t.c.,blue radiator hose looked like a regular hose wrapped in blue electrical tape and the tape started to fall off,all the lines, hoses were covered in oil, grease or dirt, the Fluidyne radiator looked like it was put in press and the sides were bowed out(later I found out the reason why it was shaped that way),the GT47-88 turbo would stop spinning as soon as you let go of the turbine wheel(when I told him that,he was telling me ,it's because there was no oil pressure feeding the turbo)lol, the turbo manifold was wrapped in what used to be thermal wrapped and turned into rags, the outlet for the upper waterneck was covered in chunks of gasket maker,I found the "custom" waterneck patched with some sort of JB WELD and also covered with gasket maker, the engine block was covered in oil, dirt and alot of rusty water stains(which I discovered a cause of later). Around that time there was a thread titled "3.4L Titan Stroker ,is it worth it?" One of SF members "scnat" Dave called Eric a parts counter person ,because he didn't know the compression on his own 4.7l engine, obviously after few hours all of those posts mysteriuosly dissapeared, but David managed to tell me to check the motor that I got from Eric, because he had overheating issues with it. So to my surprize, there was not of the cylinders that had decent compression,90,60,40,120,not particularly in that order, I should have it written down somwhere, but 120 was the highest. So just to be safe,I called Dwight @ Stage 6 Motorsports just to verify and confirm,he came down with couple of his friends and we tried again, same numbers,so I put some ATF in all cylinders and tried again, the numbers got even lower by atleast 20psi, I mentionned to Dwight, that Darin supposedly tuned this motor few years ago when the motor was still in Eric's old white car. While checking out the motor,I pulled the oil dip stick,it was covered with tar,not oil,it was tar, some of it silled on the new concrete floor at my shop, and it literally lookes like tar,I could not clean it off the floor,so the patch of tar is still there,I drained some in gallon jug, anyone is welcome to come and check it out. So Dwight tries calling Darin,Someone(I'll keep the person's name out of this mess) on the other end mention ,that Eric had overheating issues with his white car (which explains the rusty water stains on the side of the block and why Eric and Larry took the head off,"just to check how everything looks inside the motor" ,lol.Eric told me that a while back he took the head off). Now I'm furious, I gave my car away for a pile of SH!T! I gave Eric my car and on top of it ,I spent countless hours making the car look the way it looks now, when all I had to do is tweak the quarter panels to fit bigger wheels and tires and shoot a quick paint job, instead I went nuts and made sure everything looks top notch, from shaving engine bay, markers, antenna, wiper, widening all four corners, custom work on both bumpers and side skirts and topped it off with high caliber $10+k paint job.I had well over $35k in that car and ended up with garbage! So I called Eric and told him about the problem, he wanted to have his builder take a look and freshen up the motor,I declined, since I already got screwed,I could not trust him or his builder ,we agreed that I will have Stage 6 go through the motor, turbo and replace, rebuild what was damaged and needed replacement. Eric went to Stage 6 Motorsports and picked up the $1900 invoice for work on short block and turbo(which Eric failed to mention to me when he cut me a check for $1900 ,Ricky @ Stage 6 told him,it's only for the turbo and short block,Carol,Eric's girl made a comment, that Eric and her do not owe me anything,WOW,the guts these people, have!) I only recently found out that invoice did not include headwork and I still need Eric to cover that cost. That's the short version. Eric, please call Stage 6 and pay the invoice on the head,I did not waste two years of my life and give my car to end up dealing with cleaning, rebuilding motor, and dealing with all this mess.I expected this car to be in shows, meets, magazines, that's why I spent two years of my life Stefan
Gaz6002
Why is this being posted on here? We only give a shit about Eric's 4.7TT car and its progress through the build. Other points are irrelevant to us. Also, personally I wouldn't have bought a motor without looking closely and compression checking it, if not hearing it running first. Especially with that amount of money involved.
SteveR
1) tbh. you should discuss that in private not here. 2) the mods will probably take offence to your username as promoting your own company... I'm not in UK,but US,so I seriously doubt anyone would consider my post or my screen name as promoting my company.BTW,I use that screen name on many different boards without any issues I was registered here under "exvelocity" few years ago,but do not remeber my password Guigsy's right on both counts. Creating more than one account is another offence. I don't want to see pointless copy-paste arguments spilling over from Supraforums to here. That stops, now. I understand you're annoyed about this but ordering someone around through a forum will achieve nothing. I'm guessing you saw the same thing happen on your home forum? Regardless - if I see it continue here I'll simply lock the thread.
Kirk
this thread has opened my eyes a bit and question build quality from TTC... cowboy bebop
I'm not on SF anymore so I wouldn't know what goes on there, but clearly there's some misinformation being spread. Either way, I don't see the point of spreading it here. For the record I didn't read elitecustombody's post because I know it's going to be one sided garbage and skewed information. It always is as he's always portraying himself as the victim. Let it be known that it was he who approached me with a deal to trade a motor for a widebody plus car, and the deal was quoted at 10 weeks. 6 months later after there was no work performed, I asked to kill the deal but he refused. It wasn't until 2 years later that he made good on his side of the deal. I can't tell you guys how much REAL (folding) money that I was out due to missing parts off of the car. I even paid to have my motor/turbo refreshed when quite honestly I didn't have to since there the motor was offered as is and in the two years the project took, it was available for inspection at any time. As far as I'm concerned, elitecustombody is very talented but attempts to manipulate through guilt and pressure. I consider our transaction complete as it took place and was satisfied over a year ago. I prefer and choose to have no more contact with him as the transaction went south and I feel lucky to have it completed. I realize that this is a forum and that the internet is the internet, however those who know me know that I make every effor to satisfy my friends and customers. I take a personal interest in my customers projects, and do my best to go the extra mile. I can't please everyone though, and I'm cool with that. Anyone who researches me will see that I absolutely have a clean record, not even a speeding ticket. I do my best to stay on the up and up. You're most welcome to join and post on this UK forum but please keep your discussion/dispute with cowboy bebop to more appropriate channels: he said she said never goes down well, especially if it's just spilled over from another forum where it got nowhere. Posting a personal dispute on this public forum based on what boils down to personal opinion will just get dozens of people who know very little substance about the matter drawn into it, associating our forum in the process - and that never goes well for anyone involved. I'm sure at least one if not both parties feels wrongly done by and I'm also sure there are two sides to every story, but to be blunt I don't really want to hear either. This goes for both of you: PM each other, take it elsewhere, start some sort of legal proceedings if that's what's appropriate, but don't wash your dirty laundry in public. Other than that, welcome.
