SupraAyf
I joined the US Forum in July and I was gutted to find just how rude people were. Since then, I haven't been back much but I suppose the saving grace was that I did post a thread recently where a number of people were kind and helpful - I must have found a moment when the adults were on the forum instead of the kids. JamieP
I dont understand this, who cares what they think? did you build the car for yourself or the forum members? saying that you wont tune it higher and are gonna lock it up for a decade seems madness to me? Pick the toys up, put them back in the pram and finish the car.
Gaz6002
Eric, this is one of my favourite cars. Please stay on here, if not SF. The build thread is one of the most interesting I've seen.

I didn't say I wouldn't tune it for more boost, I just said that if I do, I'm not going to post it up. On storing the car for years, that's really not a problem. I stored my old white Supra for years while I was living/working in Europe. Eric
Miguel
Pick the toys up, put them back in the pram and finish the car. I agree with Jamie on this. Just get on with it and ignore the "haters". It's your project and one that deserves some credit. It would also be nice to make the "haters" eat the humble pie;) I didn't say I wouldn't tune it for more boost, I just said that if I do, I'm not going to post it up. On storing the car for years, that's really not a problem. I stored my old white Supra for years while I was living/working in Europe. Eric I'll have to disagree with you on this I'm afraid Eric. You have stated what you're shooting for several times, not only on this forum, but many others. I can see how you have come under fire as the power you have reached on Q16 is somewhat closer to that of an untouched N/A engine, than that of the targets you've mentioned. I think you have sold yourself short if I'm honest. From what I can gather you had a great deal of support for your project, not only of SF, but globally. I think the hype was so great that the end result was somewhat deflating to some, as well as fed the "haters" fire. You really should have risen above it as it's the same the world over. Deleting everything about your car over there and saying you are happy with the power achived hasn't done you any favours. Giving the threads a trim would have been a better move. News travels fast on the net, and some would look at this as trying to hide something. This is one reason why I have never made any targets for my past projects public until after the fact. I don't like eating pie;) I'm only shooting for 900rwhp and as much Tq as that will give me. We're building a stroked 5.4L 2uz V8TT motor now for a good friend that is going all out. His goals are set high at ~1500Hp, so we're reinforcing every aspect of the motor right down to the buckets, 4 bolt mains, etc. Eric The real truth is you are moving the game on. There isn't much that hasn't been done with the 2JZGTE, so it's refreshing see new directions being taken. No one said sticking your head above the rest of the crowd was going to be easy. Mistakes happen, people whine, haters try to belittle what you are doing. It's all part of being different from everyone else.
AndyT
Just stay here and keep us up to date Cowboy. Some fans love the way things are built purely on engineering background. Yours is an exceptional project and should be recognized as such. Our forums would be so much more boring and uninspirational without people like you, Ed Morris, JamieP, LeeP et al. It's all part of being different from everyone else. Those HP goals were set years ago, and int he two years it too to finish the body work, I grew not to care so much as what HP the car is making as how the car rides and feels. I'm done chasing a number. For the record, the Th400 sucks up ~30% of your HP, so 380 roughly equates to 500BHP at 8psi. What it's making now I can't say, but with the trans pump replacement and wastegates tuned properly, there's a difference. The most I could want out of this motor is ~900BHP, or 600rwhp. Through that transmission, it's quite a bit. But either way, I wouldn't be disappointed if the car sits like it is now for a while. Maybe with some audio, that would be nice. On Supras, this is my last one. It's been fun but I've got my eye on bigger prizes. Eric

One of our top guys, CW, always goes with the handling and how good it can be over BHP. Cannot fault such wisdom. You'll be sorely missed in the Supra world though mate. Good luck. One of our top guys, CW, always goes with the handling and how good it can be over BHP. Cannot fault such wisdom. You'll be sorely missed in the Supra world though mate. Good luck. Thanks man. Also for the record, I don't mind bumping up the HP. But if I'm to do it, it's going to be on my terms and because I wanted to, not because the monkeys on SF chide me into it. That's the wrong reasons. In the three years it took to get the car to this point, I've learned a lot about what's important. Also, like I metioned up top, the Th400 eats a lot of HP, but what it eats up it gives back in ease of driving and drama free operation. I know everyone in the world has seen this already, but here's the car in action. Right now, chasing a HP number, 1/4 mile, etc... that's all BS. If it's not making me money, it's costing me money, and right now I've got a line on a real money maker, so for right now the rest is put to bed. Thanks! Thanks mate, it really is a well behaved car. I mean I had to windows down and you could hear me plain as day. In my old white car, I had to yell to talk to the passenger whether the windows were open or not.

Terminator
Not seen the clip either, smooth as stock, civilised. I whole heartedly support the view that it is what the individual wants for their car that is important, stick to your goals and achieve them and add them to the many achievements you have already made. The trouble with forums is there can be pressure from others to do things that you don't want to do and if you don't do them you are in some way an outsider as you are seen to be bucking the trend. I have not seen Eric's threads on Supra forums, as I only dip in with a search when I want to find a part number, or other information. You are an very talented individual and there will always be a silent majority that follow your projects with quiet admiration. I am certain they vastly out number the venomous few. Forget the key board warriors as they make no lasting contribution to the performance car community, just get their forum moment for what that is worth. One thing is for sure, they will not be remembered. Good luck with the future project, it sounds intriguing.
