Electric fans

Recommended Posts

I have fitted a thermostat, of course, and now want to find a convenient ignition feed under the bonnet.

This will prevent the fans from running after the engine is turned off but still hot, and save me having to tear out the dash or stand on my head for an hour to get at the fuse board in the drivers footwell.

I have had a probe about, but cannot find an obvious source.

Mine is N/A, less heat to get rid of.

Had electric fans on all cars for last 30 years, no probs.

They only come on when you are stuck in traffic, when rolling, then flow of air through the grill is sufficient.

But this is getting off topic.

Is there an accessory ignition feed lurking somewhere under the bonnet?

Anybody!

Electric fans was one of the mods I regretted, the stock fan system is far more efficient and less troublesome IMO

Totally agree, waste of money, effort, time for reduced cooling. Another stupid de-clutter mod.:flame:

But if you must you should take a feed straight from the battery and trigger a relay with a thermostat in the water system. They will still be more restrictive than the stock system.

After ditching the first 2 cheap ebay fans I've not noticed car running hotter with electric fans, did blow a few fuses to start with

Patched into ECU so they trigger at set temp.

Sounds a bit like concorde taking off :D

I've had to play with map has they wanted to come on just as i get to the burn out point after standing in queue. then stay on for next 12 seconds

I'm like others, second time around i would bother changing from viscous ;)

In front of the fuse box there are two plugs, you will find an ignition source in one of those. Not sure of the colour but should be easy to find. :)
