no sound on laptop (help!)

The drirver may have gone tits up, go to your device manager, locate the audio device/drive, right click and choose uninstall, if you are asked if you want to delete the associated driver then choose no at this stage.

 

Once the driver is uninstalled, select your machine name (which is at the top of the list in device manager) then select 'Scan for hardware changes', at this stage it should recognise the audio device and the proceed to install the driver.

cheers mate i think it was the drivers , nearly knee`d my self in the face when the sound come on tho lol was sat in front of the screen and everything was on full belt :blush:

Been there too. Didn't know how to fix it though so thanks wkd. :)
