Chris Wilson
Just been nosing around the For Sale section of a car forum. I saw some wheels I would be interested in, especially if he'd sell without the tyres, or if he was near I could collect and save the ludicrous postal fee he's asking. So I wonder where he's located. Nothing in the ads, what about his avatar then? ~&%#@ing "Dreamland". Then some say "Top Secret", or something equally banal. What are these people, CIA? Some sort of criminals given new ID's for helping the Old Bill out with their enquiries? Neurotics that think every man and his dog will come and plunder their gaff for a rusty shell sat on bricks with a few dinged rims and a dog chewed interior scattered around? If *I* had a forum I'd insist on real names, real addresses and a photo of the member and his siblings, in the nude, with a birth certificate clearly shown Sorry, been "advised" by `er indoors to tidy the attic and throw out my precious magazines and other stuff going back decades (no, not THOSE mags, she doesn't know I even still have those...). Stressed, tired and dirty, and, if I am truthful, a tad guilty as even the most cursory totting up of cover prices is quite alarming. Tannhauser
I'm in full agreement. I've never understood why some need to hide behind pompous pseudonyms. That business about the location must be very frustrating. It's not as if there is some easy way to find out that would take about as long as starting a new thread. RobSheffield
I think the locations on here are set 'top secret' by default Chris.
Havard
I think the locations on here are set 'top secret' by default Chris. How can you comment Rob. Your location is Yorkshire....
michael
I agree with Chris, it's very annoying when people don't list their actual name and location.
Jake
I'm in full agreement. I've never understood why some need to hide behind pompous pseudonyms. Lots of us longer-standing members have already bagged our real names as our forum IDs*, so not everyone can have their actual name. "Cliff" is still available though. It's the ones like AxeMurderer666 or HadesBeast or somesuch rock'ard moniker that make me wonder. *Not that Jake is my real name, 'tis just a nickname 'cos my surname is Jacobs. jevansio
I've been after Jay for ages, as Jake says, if it were changed everyone would be "who the hell is Jay"
Matt H
I'm in full agreement with you Chris. Started a similar thread ages ago about how it must sound ringing a trader up with some of the user names on here!
marbleapple
I agree with Chris, it's very annoying when people don't list their actual name and location. I agree with locations but not names. Saying that I watched Watchmen last night.... I'm utterly confused by Rorschach likes to be known by that name especially since inthe film he went pop. Each to their own I guess. I've always wondered where Kiribati is too.
Havard
Is it "wrong" that I have my surname as my user name?? Tbh, when I joined I didn't expect a community like this or the personal involvemet with some people. I just thought that I would use this place for reference purposes only. It's not as if my name can be used for anything fraudulent can it?? H.

I settled for Rorschach because the Mods wouldn't let me have 'Annoying C*nt'.
marbleapple
I settled for Rorschach because the Mods wouldn't let me have 'Annoying C*nt'. Lol - fair enough. I thought the old name was better since it allowed you to build your own personality without it being tainted by an implied personality from the film. All the way through the movie (which I thought was superb upto the point that rorscarch went pop) I kept coming back to the image or Rorscharch sitting at a desk posting re Supras... A tad odd .... Just how do you see through that "face"?
Charlotte
I agree. With everything.
Abz
Chris, you have a good point, so I think you should lead the way & that starts with a picture of you in your birthday suit holding your birth certificate! This should be your avatar! By the way my name is Gary, but I am known as George or James depending what night it is, unless it's a leap year when I am known as Dave. marbleapple
I agree. With everything. Perhaps this should have been posted in the 'biggest fault' thread? I can imagine it would lead to some rather odd or inappropriate situations.
Matt H
Is it "wrong" that I have my surname as my user name?? No, it's just wrong that you have an 'r' in it!
stevie_b
Neurotics that think every man and his dog will come and plunder their gaff for a rusty shell sat on bricks with a few dinged rims and a dog chewed interior scattered around? I wouldn't be interested in nicking the old beaters that most of you guys own. Now if someone had a £140k£70k supra, that would be different... If *I* had a forum I'd insist on real names, real addresses and a photo of the member and his siblings, in the nude, with a birth certificate clearly shown .. any any distinguishing features, birthmarks, etc...
