You will be able to use pretty much everything, but you can make it better. There will be faster DDR you can use and you will be able to upgrade everything else. Change your motherboard, CPU and memory. Graphics card optional, keep the rest.

I have never bought an entire computer, building and upgrading them got me through college and Uni ;)

As Michael has mentioned already, what is your rough budget for this?

If you are moving from your current system to a half decent gaming computer then apart from peripherals nothing other than the HDD and case will be re-useable.

If you are okay with a low-mid range computer (perfectly good for a couple of years use) it will nearly always be more cost effective to pick up a complete PC box like the ones in the link above. If you want to go for a higher spec which has more re-use and upgrade potential then components are another option, but a typical system will cost a lot more than £300. The normal box systems come with integrated graphics which is a no-no if you want to play demanding games at higher resolution and detail. I would never use one, but having a decent stand alone graphics card will cost a lot more. It is what most people who are 'into' computers will do though.

It all depends how much performance you want and how much you want to spend (same old story with the cars really!)

cheapest is overclockers uk

but i get all mine from powerC coz there closest. (in bedford)

but my PC cost over £1500 that i built my self over time.....with a budget mate get a good tower (i used the antec gamers about £100) and a good mother board i used a GIGABITE one for about £100 and then use all your componants u have now and build it better and better everymonth!

So over the past near on year i ended up with

2000GB of hardrives

Intel quod core with 16MB cache

crossfired ATI 2GB graphics

Pass them over :) The energizer batteries don't quite do 80 hour weeks :(

Just want to post the new website but its only 95% done so cant. Plus I have just secured a new supplier, turns out, they supply my current suppliers so things can now be considerably cheaper :)

Mr Keef.

You will be wanting to replace the

Processor

Motherboard

RAM

and probably your power supply.

Whist you are at it replace the case for something half decent and as the new motherboard will be PCI-E (AGP is not only dead but its been buried too) you will want a new video card.

You need to come up with a budget, a gaming PC can be built for a little as £400. Most gamers tend to spend around the £600 - £800 mark so they can factor in lifespan for upgrades.

Time are good to upgrade. With the launch of the New I5 Processors and the new ATI 58xx cards you will do yourself well. Its not often I say times are good to upgrade. :)

I got a new power supply, 1 gig graphics card and 3.2 over clocked dual core pentium, 4 gig etc for around 550 notes from overclockers, works like peach... and the graphics card was probably as expensive as the mobo/ram/cpu bundle!

*just need some games for it now*

I have NEVER been let down by overclockers. I live just down the road from them and am always in for bits and bobs. The guys know their stuff and the prices are extremely good. They even build one off custom built systems if you've got the mular.

Even if you find cheaper i'd still go with OC as quality of service is second to none.

I'll stop now as i'm beginning to sound like i'm on comission :D

The I5 prosessors are great! cant really beat them...only problem is you have to have a very expensive motherboard to suport it! So the motherboard and the processor you looking at big bucks!

I5 Motherboards are around £85 for a decent one. The memory controller is on the chip, so compared to an I7 the motherboards are half the price.
