I agree to the above statements. When we go abroad we have to stick by there rules and most of the time there even harder on us because were english and in there country! So why is it not like it here. As for the comment about indian food, thats stupid. You can get english food abroad, dont mean we go there and set our own rules and for the record i hate indian food!

The difference is that in the UK the "rules" have gone bizerk and the people who rule on the rules are probably living in Koo Koo land :)

Sorry but its getting to a point where its a shame to be british. Getting walked all over by people whos distant generations had nothing to do with what our families fought for many years ago. We should of closed our doors and said go home before there was any need to give compensation for turbans, need to have equality rules and religious exemptions, and even where i come from in yeovil a polish supermarket with english not welcome on the window!!! And i swear thats the truth. They come here and tell us how to run our country...

Lee, does that mean my grandfather who fought in the british army should be told to go back to his homeland? We came over here because he was in the army... does that mean my Dad who is just retiring now who most likely has paid over £500k in taxes & VAT should have gone home or the last 7 years I have been working & paidly nearly 80k in taxes should go home?

I agree with some of your points about things being taken over but honestly speaking if you told everyone who is not pure english to leave like the BNP want then I would think this economy would crumble.

My two English Pence.

The country would also be very empty - how many people here can honestly say they are 100% English all the way back to the dinosaurs?

That's a sore point. I recently discovered that my maternal grandfather was ... welsh! :(

Seriously, it was quite a shock.

Let us never speak of it again.

Thats why we are british & only English for the rugby & football etc,(im English:) ) but then when Scotland play Brazil i want Scotland to win. Think its a problem other people have with the English, not the other way round. Oh and was the British Empire, not the English?

I dont see its got anything to do with where your from or what religion you follow, if you cant do the job your in because the job requires you to wear protective clothing then you shouldnt be in that job.

If i ran a building site then i wouldnt employ someone who couldnt or wouldnt wear a hard hat.

Perhaps with the Police the simple solution would be to put the officer on other duties rather than be nasty to him and end up giving him our tax payers money which could be better spent say on a hospital or cancer research etc.

:D

I always knew there was a bit of decency in you somewhere - brother!
If there is, Col, it ain't from my taffy grandad.

Apparently the leek-muncher knocked-up my grandma during the war and then pissed off back to the valleys denying everything after he got the 'happy news'.

Bloody Taffs, they come over here, steal our jobs, shag our women. We should send them all back home.

etc.

He was told to "take that thing off" and suffered harrasment for it

It is against his religion to remove the Turban, I dont see the issue, what did you expect him to do

The police encourage ethnic groups to join and should be prepared with a procedure on how to deal with this scenario

Seems like it is the police force who should be looking at themselves

he shouldn't of claimed compo as they were just trying to look out for him.

Why? In my experience the Scots would cheer on anyone rather than the English. They hate us.
True, true. Many of the Scotch are the biggest racists you'll ever meet.

Doesn't stop thousands of them coming down here to work and live. While still banging on about how lovely Scotland is and how patriotic they are, of course. :D

My point exactly this country is great Great Britian, thats what kept us strong united, we have allowed goverments do gooders N.F. & anybody else to divide us. Its time the BRITISH stood up.

  • 1 month later...

Im a sikh.. i wear a turban. My grandfather together with hundreds of other sikhs fought for this country in WW2. No one quibbled about there turbans then when they were dying for this country, in fact there white christian commanding officers actually made a point of growing there beards and wearing turbans aswell during the time they served with the sikhs. (look up the history if you doubt this).

My point is this. you cant make sweeping statements about any group of people based on the actions of one, or even a few. To be honest, if hes claimed that money, hes a bit of a muppet and doesnt sound like much of a sikh- turban or no turban.

the importance of wearing a turban is pretty low down on the list of how to practice being a good sikh. For times when it is impractical or dangerouse it can be taken off. Much like stock traction control on my supra its nice to know its there but some times its best to take it off and its pretty useless in wet weather...

Youll never going to get rid of people who attempt to take advantage of the system for personal gain- (regardless of ethnicity). but thoses who scour the news looking for examples of why non-white british people dont deserve to be here need to find a more productive use of there time.

Now if you dont mind ill get back to help proping up this countries economy by doing my bit as an actuary in the llyods insurance sector (the only real thrieving part of the financial services sector in london at this point in time). In doing so ill continue to pay a shed load of tax pounds to MY government, Ill do it while being proud to be british, and ill do it wearing my turban (which is perfectly practical in an office environment and does wonders enduring freezing temperatures during my commute to work in the mornings!;)
