SupraShaun
You may have to reset it/ reconfigure it, hold down the power button when you turn it on (3 or 4 seconds) until it beeps again.

Bobbeh
Sounds like the TV is expecting sound from the HDMI input but not getting it, as its being sent via the optical.. must be some settings on the TV to configure the audio.
a98pmalcolm
if your using the optical, go into you PS3 setting in the main menu. and make sure u have the optical out put set as the audio out, also in the TV settings check the sound imput settings (if there is one)

Scott
Kick it harder! I too think the above might work. I'm thinking that maybe the settings have re-set when you plugged it into your Dad's telly? Did you turn it off in your house without changing anything then turn it back on in your Dads with everything exactly the same? I've noticed that if you plug things in different then turn it on, then sort it, it doesn't work right. Other than that i would say TV settings.
